February 4, 20233 yr I'm flying the PMDG 737 and the aircraft wants to land short on ILS approaches. I haven't tried the other aircraft, and I don't think it's a PMDG problem, I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this before I try to troubleshoot it. I flew the PMDG a lot in previous FS versions but it's been a while and maybe I have the procedure wrong but it doesn't look that way.
February 4, 20233 yr What airport? Some addon airports have issues with the approaches. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

After you arm Approach, verify it captures VOR/LOC and G/S modes, and not G/P. A G/P mode would indicate you're in IAN mode and the aircraft is flying an FMC computed glidepath instead of the ILS glideslope; if this is the case, an altimetry error could bring you up short of the runway. I mention this because it's easy to do by accident in MSFS because of the short range of navaids in general. It's entirely possible to be at a point where you'd arm Approach in reality, but in the sim you'll get VOR/LOC and G/P because the sim thinks you're receiving the localizer but not the glideslope. If you see G/P in white on your flight mode annunciator, select Approach again to disarm it, and wait till you're closer and try again. It's an MSFS-ism. Andrew Crowley

If you are using Navigraph AIRAC update and Charts updating the magdec.bgl is essential for accuracy. Go here:- https://www.aero.sors.fr/navaids.html to read and understand how it affects your sim, you can also download the updated magdec.
