Ai aircraft runway control

Featured Replies

Could I manage ai aircraft to takeoff and land on selected runway by me?

I mean , my airport has 3 runways can I select ai aircraft to takeoff or land on a chosen runway

You could try editing the airfield to make the other runways inactive, then the ai will use the only active runway.

Alternatively set up the weather to ensure the wind blows down the runway you want to use.

Obviously the runway in question will need to be suitable for the aircraft to use, (length, surface, etc.) else you'll likely end up with repeated go-arounds, which could cause other traffic problems, at a busy airport.

& even if that is downwind within limits (ie the wind always blows "down" the runway, but could be a head/tailwind)

for now, cheers

Only if your three runways are parallel, e.g. like at EHAM in the Netherlands, you can make (mis-)use, like I do, of the fact that AI aircraft have the hard coded habit of always landing on the nearest runway in relation to the direction from which they are approaching, i.e. never on the middle runway. The standard FS9 ATC works in that same manner.

The wind direction only influences final approach headings to those "nearest" runways.

For take offs this will all be axactly the same, i.e. AI aircraft will always take, or be directed along, the shortest route from their parking positions to the nearest open runway, while ATC approaches and departures in flyable aircraft, will do exactly the same as well.

I've been doing extensive testing to try to influence the above at other non parallel runway airports, e.g. by (test-) blocking runways for take offs and/or for landings (via the Afcad program), but have never actually been successful at it. Furthermore, I have no direct experience with the more complicated ADE program but I must assume that this program will not be able to directly influence this hard coded problem either.

Regards

Hans.
