February 26, 20233 yr I found this excellent freeware - Got Friends Got Gravel Vertigo - 360 knots in the air and take off or touch down in STOL manner. Thank you very much, Got Friends! It is allready equipped with the G3X Avionics - formerly advanced by the WT mod - now replaced by the default AAU G3X which has lost some of the WT modifications, mainly the autopilot switch functions. So now I have to use an additional tool to operate the autopilot which is called RemoteFlightServer / Remote Flight App on the IPhone. There is still documented a way to replace the G3X MFD by the PMS GTN 750 (helped by a mod made by JayDee (JDs PMSGTN750 on other Mods)). The GTN750 incorporates an autopilot panel and also has VNAV functions which I would like to use to optimate the Vertigo flight experience on travel flights. Unfortunately the GTN replacement seems to be no longer functional since the AAU1 or - that is my question now - do I do something wrong? In the document "Vertigo and the Garmin GTN750" under Step 3 I am told to go to the \GotGravel_Vertigo\panel\ directory and rename panel.cfg to panel_G3X.cfg. That ist possible. Followed by renaming PANEL_GTN750.CFG to PANEL.CFG. But - ??? - there is no file called PANEL_GTN70.CFG in the directory. Was it there in former versions and is it now absent? Has someone done what I am keen to do and was successful and can tell me how to replace the G3X?? February 26, 20233 yr Author Thread is obsolete - problem solved. A new download from the new Got Friends site included the missing file. May 18, 20233 yr I'm a bit confused. Are you talking about the fspackages-main download? Does that fix the G3X autopilot? That package has the WT Garmin mods, but as you stated in your original post, those have been deprecated and incorporated into the default MSFS Garmin panels. I still don't understand how to activate the AP in my Vertigo's G3X. I have the latest version of the aircraft (v2.0.2) but the AP is still missing. Edited May 18, 20233 yr by Eracer1111
May 18, 20233 yr My V2.0.2 G3X autopilot activates and works in ROL and PTCH mode but there is no way to change to HDG, NAV, VNAV or anything similar. I have been using Vertigo since it was first released and love to fly it. But, it is a lot of work with an AP that does not really work. I have also carefully followed the instructions to use the JD mods for the GTN 750 but get the same result only it is in LVL and ALT mode. There is no way to change the AP mode. No amount of clicking anywhere in the three blank boxes, near them, or anywhere else - makes anything happen. Using DEV mode I can switch to other aircraft that use the G3X and GTN 750 (either PMS or TDS) and the autopilot in any of them, e.g. 414aw, works perfectly. Switching back to Vertigo - I find a very handicapped AP. Looking at the panel.cfg and .html files - I see them referencing the proper files but nothing good happens. After I tried a lot of testing I deleted all my Vertigo stuff and downloaded a new version an reinstalled it but have the same problem. May 20, 20233 yr Author To complete the handling of the autopilot modes you need either the Remote Flight App / Remote Flight Server (operated on an IPad or IPhone for example) or the PMS GTN Professional (payware version) which inkludes a simple Autopilot switch panel. May 20, 20233 yr I found the PMS GTN750 web page. The Vertigo is not listed as a compatible aircraft. However, I can download and install the Premium version as a trial - but it will only be active on Thursdays. Interesting. Per the author: This is why we offer you to test the product with a free license usable only on Thursday of each week. The free license number will be modified at least at the beginning of each month. Maybe it will work with the Vertigo. I'll find out next Thursday...😕
