PMDG Issue with Variables

Featured Replies

Hello, I have a problem with variables in my PMDG 737. I use a VRInsight Combo II and it actually works very well.

Now there is a file for the PMDG and the Combo II for the displays from a German guy on Flightsim.to. With the first versions he used a variable for speed, HDG and altitude, which also worked for me. Only the speed value could not be changed from knots to mach.
Since the last version it uses (PMDG:MCP_IASMach) for the speed display, so that the value changes from knots to Mach and vice versa. This variable doesn't work for me. I was in contact with him and via "Observe Variables in Simulator" we tested if there is a problem. The value changes for him as soon as he turns the speed knob in MSFS with the mouse. If I turn the speed knob in my MSFS, the value remains 0. The combo display shows ".00". If I turn the speed knob on the combo, the display value in the PMDG changes. The value ".00" remains in the display of the combo
What can be the cause? Even with the new values (for example (PMDG:MCP_Altitude)) the observer does not recognize any value changes.

Regards

Thomas from Austria

Did you activate the PMDG SDK data broadcast in the ini file for the 737? Are you running the data collection autoscript in AAO? Both items are described in the AAO manual, there is a whole chapter about PMDG aircraft.

Also, make sure that you both have the same version of AAO. The data structure in the PMDG changed a while ago, and if you have an old version of AAO and the author has a newer one, you will see different results.

Yes, I have all [SDK]-Entries in both 737.ini-Files (700 & 800). I even searched in the depths of my drives to see if there were any other 737.ini files hidden there.

And I created an Aircraft automated script. Herefor I ask you, do I have to start the script only when starting the AAO? < than 200ms!
I also start AAO automatically with the MSFS and I activated the administrator in the properties of the AAO exe file.

And I have your newest Version.

The Aircraft Automated Script must be of type "repeating" and the timout should be as low as you can tolerate to save performance (not lower than 100, more like 200-250)

You don't start it at all. When configured correctly, it runs itself.

Ok, i will change the script to "repeating" in the evening.

I Made the change.

But now the crazy thing:

I allways fly with the 737-800. Today I loaded a flight with the 700-version. And with this version it worked.

Then I loaded a flight with the 800-version. Started again AAO. And.... the problem was here again.

Sorry, no idea. It is probably better if you send an email with your proof of purchase to the support address (last page of the AAO manual). I will need screenshots of the aircraft automated script dialog after the -800 has been loaded. And posting those here is not really convenient.

And there is always the option that something changed in the PMDG SDK and that the 700 and the 800 are different models now. You never know.

Edit: I just checked, MSFS with the PMDG -800. The variable (PMDG:MCP_IASMach) is working for me. But - the PMDG operations center is "unable to reach PMDG", so I can't check for updates at the moment. Patience...

Today I made a new Installation. I started a flight with the Standard livery. And it worked. Yes!

Then I started a flight with an Austrian livery from flightsim.to. and it didn't Work. Crazy, isn't it? Back to Standard livery. It worked again.

Did you assign the autoscript to both liveries? As with everything else in AAO, the Aircraft Automated Script is always only active for the livery that you were flying when you assigned it ("Aircraft = Livery" in this case).

So, I uninstalled the old liveries. Downloaded the newest Lufthansa-Livery and it worked.
