An-2 NAV radio?

Featured Replies

I use the [excellent] AT Simulations An-2 old/basic model - and can operate the ADF with no problems. However - on the left hand side of the VC, there's a comms unit that also includes a NAV radio where you can tune to VOR beacons.

I see no way that VOR can be used. Am I doing something basically wrong, or should that part of the unit not be there?

Also - is there ever an audio tone transmitted when an ADF (or VOR) beacon is tuned in? I've never heard one - though the "volume" knobs appear to animate.

I believe Antonov had only ADF. РСБН stations in former USSR were closest thing to western VOR but they predominately were used by military . Also they were pretty rare to be installed to AN-2 which was used as short range commuter.

P. S. I personally would love to see CDI retrofitted especially since we have GNS430

Exactly my point ... so why is the NAV tuner there then <?>.

There's a (white) switch in the left upper panel of the ADF unit that will turn on the ADF Ident.

Because he had a spare one sitting in his virtual hangar? 🙂 I guess someone needs to mod an INOP sticker on top of the NAV display..

Having said that, the NAV receiver is actually functional, just that there's no indicator in the VC. I can operate and display it on my Streamdeck.

Yes - thanks. I was using that, but it turns out my cockpit MSFS sounds slider was too low/quiet. I can now hear it - but it's still incredibly faint - even with the panel volume knob maxed out. At least it works though eh? 🙂

I was sitting right next to a NDB when I was testing it, and the volume was adequate. I wonder if the signal strength is simulated. Stations further away should be fainter.
