Hello,

since it actually belongs to the good tone of this fine website and forums I hereby declare myself. 😉

My real name is Stephan, I got somewhat old lately, about 47ish this year and I live currently in Stuttgart/Germany. I consider myself a pure "hobby sim pilot" although MSFS 2020 is sucking me deeper and deeper into it every day, especially since I got my first VR Headset (PICO 4) and did something I never thought I would actually do: buying a yoke (Turtle Beach VelocityOne). This combined with my pc rig (11700k, 32GB, RTX3090) results in an experience now that is very hard to resist for me (and I know that this is just a kind of an "advanced basic set", if you're really into it).

But all the hard- and software doesn't make me a good or even decent pilot and so I'm still learning a lot with every flight. I'm all in for prop machines with steam gauges, the A310 or the CJ4 are interesting, but I'll take a deeper look into them later - like very later. When I'm actually a somewhat decent sim pilot and kind of "tired" of pistons and in need for new challanges. I think the G1000, as brilliant as it is, takes away a very certain aspect of the character of an airplane - imho. So the first sim planes I bought are Beechcraft Model 18 (loving it), Black Square Analog Baron & Analog King Air and PA-28R Turbo Arrow III/IV, besides still having a heart for the Analog C172, the Freeware upgraded C152 or the DHC-2 Beaver. It's more than enough to keep me busy for a loong time until I feel sort of "home" in every one of them - a huge task, I know.

I'm not that new to flight sims tbh - around ten years ago MSFS X did something similar to me but somehow I lost interest for while. It is an intense and time consuming hobby but now with VR and all the possibilities it's amazing how close we get to the real thing, it still is breathtaking for me everytime I fire up the sim and find myself sitting in a virtual cockpit. You immediately take all things "a bit" more seriously even if you "just hop into the good ol' 152/172" for a nice tour on a place you've never heard of before.

Okay, this post is getting out of my hands somewhat, enough said. Have a nice one 🙂

Welcome to Avsim.  47-ish is old?  Dang!  I wish I could be 47 again.

My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.

Welcome to Avsim. Do you actually think you are old? Well, I am 77. Allow me, please, to tell you what Knud Rasmussen (1879-1933 Greenland) wrote:
