Help with Graphic settings with my RTX4080 in MSFS

Featured Replies

Hi All, I recently purchased a new system which includes an Intel I7 and a RTX 4080. When in the graphic settings in MSFS, the "DLSS Frame Generation" option in not enabled. The text to the right when you put the curser on the option says:- " Change windows setting in "Display>Graphics and change default graphics to "Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling", which I have and restarted the pc, but still the option is still not enabled. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking. John.

Are you on dx12? FG working only on dx12.

Intel Core i9 13900K, NVidia RTX 4090 FE, Corsair Vengeance DDR5 64GB@6000MHz, Samsung 990 Pro 2TB NVMe M2, Asus OLED PG42 UQ

Frame Generation only works in DX12. MSFS defaults to DX11. So enable the DX12 (beta) option. Then you must completely close down and reboot the sim for the DX change to take effect. You should then be able to use Frame Generation.

Processor: Intel i9-13900KF 5.8GHz 24-Core, Graphics Processor: Nvidia RTX 4090 24GB GDDR6, System Memory: 64GB High Performance DDR5 SDRAM 5600MHz, Operating System: Windows 11 Home Edition, Motherboard: Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX, LGA 1700, CPU Cooling: Corsair H100i Elite 240mm Liquid Cooling, RGB and LCD Display, Chassis Fans: Corsair Low Decibel, Addressable RGB Fans, Power Supply: Corsair HX1000i Fully Modular Ultra-Low-Noise Platinum ATX 1000 Watt, Primary Storage: 2TB Samsung Gen 4 NVMe SSD, Secondary Storage: 1TB Samsung Gen 4 NVMe SSD, VR Headset: Meta Quest 2, Primary Display: SONY 4K Bravia 75-inch, 2nd Display: SONY 4K Bravia 43-inch, 3rd Display: Vizio 28-inch, 1920x1080. Controller: Xbox Controller attached to PC via USB.

I own a RTX4080 and this option was disabled and greyedout from a Win10 & MSFS DX12 fresh installation.

What Id did is to check if in UEFI the "Resizable BAR" option is enabled.

Then in Windows check the "Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling", restart operating system if any change is made.

When back to MSFS make sure you changed from DX11 to DX12.

If the option is still greyed out,(like was in my case after doing all this checks), you need to enable it in the settings file:

Look for the file "UserCfg.opt" in my case (MSFS Store verison) was located at:

C:\Users\usrename\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache

Do a backup before changing any content. Then open UserCfg.opt with Notepad and edit:

DLSSG 1

Close and save. Start MSFS.

When back to the options menu, the option may appear greyed out but set to YES.

I don't understand why I can' turn it ON OFF from the menu itself...

Hope it helps!

Many Thanks Guys, I did only have it set to DX11, changed to DX12, now Frame Generation is enabled. Thought Asobo would of mentioned it in the help text. Thanks again. John.
