Axis and Ohs looks good but not working.

Featured Replies

Well I've done as much homework as I can and I can't get Axis and Ohs working again. It was working the other day and today it's simply not working.

I'm using the software to control my stream decks and have not had any issues until today. I've spent hours trying to get it working again but I'm thinking maybe Asobo messed around with sim connect or something no idea.

So once I understood I had a problem I checked the API ports and everything seemed good. It behaves as if everything is working fine.

Next I nuked everything from orbit completely removing the software in all appdata folders the main folder and from the documents folder. Then I removed the plugin from the stream deck software as if starting from scratch.

I downloaded the latest versions of both the plugin and the software and reinstalled them. I then imported my scripts and I'm getting the exact same result. Seems like it's working but it is not.

Does anyone know if sim connect was updated and broke stuff?

Can you be more specific about what "get working again" means? AxisAndOhs is not an app to power the StreamDeck. It just happens to have a WebAPI that the StreamDeck plugin can use. So which part is "not working"? Doesn't the AAO app connect to the simulator when you direct it to (=it shows the name of the current aircraft)? Is the StreamDeck profile static/unchaging? Are the buttons on the StreamDeck not doing anything when pressed?

Which one is it?

AAO, SimConnect and the simulator are working just fine. In 99,5% of these cases the problem lies within the TCP ports that the StreamDeck Plugin uses to talk to AAO. The ports are either blocked by another app on your computer or by your firewall. So the first order of business is to change the Web API ports. Please refer to the "WebAPI troubleshooting Guide" PDF and the AAO manual for specifics.

Incidentally, reinstalling AAO does exactly nothing except that you possibly lose your existing configuriation. Save yourself the trouble.

Let me try and be more helpful.

I am using a stream deck XL and a stream deck plus as button boxes to control functions in my aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator. I purchased Axis and Ohs because it added more interesting functions then the free offerings. My setup has been working flawlessly with Axis and Ohs until yesterday. I made no configuration changes other then I asked Axis and Ohs to launch when the simulator starts up. But I don't see how that would cause a problem.

It seems like Axis and Ohs is communicating with the simulator just fine through sim connect but I suspect that communication to the stream deck(s) is blocked or obstructed somehow.

I will focus my efforts on the Web API ports more then I have already done. I have already created rules in my firewall to open different ports if that is possibly where the obstruction exist. I'm also going to try and minimize background software running so see if that is the problem. I'll report back if I have any success.

I want to report that I have been able to successfully restore communication to my stream deck(s) with your advice thank you.

I have not pinpointed the exact problem but I suspect it could be my Logitch web camera or the G Hub software. However I shutdown all non essential software and removed all usb hardware. It seems I was not completely honest about a hardware change as I forgot I had a zoom meeting and setup G Hub and plugged in my web cam between sim sessions. It's crazy how something like this can take hours of troubleshooting. I'm just happy it's working again.

That can definitely ne a major problem!

The StreamDeck plugin wants to access the WebAPI in AAO. This WebAPI is only active when AAO is being started with the "Run as administrator" option. You can see if the WebAPI is active by looking at the two small green LEDs on the bottom right corner of the main dialog. LEDs dark = no WebAPI = no StreamDeck.

If you want to use AAO in this mode, you have to set the "Always run as Administrator" option for the AxisAndOhs... exe file. And then you have to start the simulator "As Administrator" too, or it will not be able to start AAO.

the G Hub software.

That one is another problem too. It is blocking port 9080. So in addition to the "As Administrator" problem, you will have to change the port too.

The question I would like to ask Logitech is, why this software is blocking a TCP port. What is being communicated here and to where?

Hello there,

I use Axis and Ohs to control a Saitek Rudder pedal board reassigned to a trim wheel I 3d printed. It sets up fine but after a couple of minutes the coms between the sim and A&O drops. I check the in built sensitivity in MS and the controller board is all fine.

I only have one controller and on assignment. I purchased A&O last year for some voice purpose that I now do not use. Any support or advice appreciated.

Sorry, but I don't understand what that means and what kind of assignment you have created there. Can you be more specific and post some screenshots of the assignment in AAO?

What does that mean? What is "dropping" where and how do you know that it is SimConnect that fails? Leading back to my first question, what exactly did you set up in the first place? What variable, event or script is being triggered by what hardware and how?
