Featured Replies

Hello guys,

Prepar3D v5.4 5.4.9.28482 is now available and i wonder if RXP products will work on the newly updated sim.   I use the GTN and the  GNS430

RXP versions work fine in P3DV5.4 as they were updated for use in 5.4. I have been using the 750 and 650 for more than a week with no problems in LM 5.4. I was a Flight1 GTN 750 user until the LM 5.4 update but learned that Flight1 apparently discontinued further updating support in late 2021. Install the RXP software first, of course, before trying to update individual aircraft. By the way, the Garmin GTN Trainer will automatically update for use with LM 5.4 during installation. If you are changing GTN's in aircraft whose developer supports both GTN versions you should only have to rerun the aircraft installer or configure app and then choose the RXP version. For instance, I had the Flight1 version installed in multiple A2A and Flysimware aircraft. Replacing the F1 version with RXP's was done using their individual installer file or configure app. Just make sure you have the current version of each. You may have to redownload an installer from where you purchased the aircraft. There is also a configure feature available in the Add-Ons menu when running P3D.

A key change to make in the RealityXP.GTN.ini file in the panel folder is to change RyanTCAD from false to true. Otherwise, the TCAS option on the touch screen will be grayed out (unusable) by default.

I haven't used the GNS 430/530 but would image installation being similar.

The Reality XP forum also has some good information on installations.

Thanks to Reality XP for realizing there are still dedicated P3D users and continuing to update this software.

Hope this info helps.

Sorry, in my previous comments I neglected to mention that in order for the Traffic button to work, in addition to the change in the .ini file. Second, you also need to load a plane with the RXP version, do a pop up of the gauge and then on the upper edge do a shift right mouse click to bring up the Settings screen. Then check the box for "Use RyanTCAD". The GTN gauge will then change showing the Traffic button usable.

Sorry I left that out.
