June 25, 20232 yr Hi all, I have started having a ctd with every flight. I wasn't sure if it was something i was clicking at first but if i leave the sim sitting there at idle in the load up menu it will still ctd. The sim completely freezes up prior to the ctd. Looking in the event viewer i'm greeted with a Ucrtbase.dll faulting path with Exception Code: 0xc0000409 I have spent some time researching this and read some have fixed it with a install of the English (US) Language Pack. I already have this installed. I have reinstalled the sim & windows to eliminate any bugs with that, I then loaded up the sim and it still crashes during flight or if just left on the menu. Had anybody else experienced this before? I'm on the latest Windows 11 updates & Nvidia drivers. Thank you in advance.
June 25, 20232 yr Hi there, Just try find something here: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/search?q=Ucrtbase.dll %23bugs%3Actds It looks like it's repeatable, so if there's nothing what solves it for you, Zendesk would be an option. July 10, 20232 yr Author Just to update this a bit, it seems if the sim is idle it will trigger the CTD. I’ve noticed this by opening MSFS and not interacting with the sim by having a phone call come through. i relaunched it and tested again and same thing happened after no interaction. However, when leaving the mouse cursor on one of the menu areas ( world map ) it won’t crash.
July 10, 20232 yr Author It also seems that any use of frame rate limits or vsync in nvidia control panel will cause this too. Incredibly frustrating, as the setup I have when using frame generation I really need vsync and the frame limited to 60, otherwise it’s not smooth at all and will stutter.
July 10, 20232 yr If you have an overclock, try setting things back to stock speeds and see if the error persists. You might also try changing video drivers. Honestly, though, given the sudden onset and that you've already done a clean reinstall of both Windows and Simzilla and are still getting these errors, it strongly suggests to me that you have a hardware problem. I'd first run a good 4-hour memory test with Memtest86+, and then a stress test like Cinebench or OCCT while watching temps and voltages to see if something is going awry. July 10, 20232 yr Start simple. Run the Windows Memory Diagnostic. Press Windows key + R and type it in as shown above. When it is complete, look in the Even Viewer and choose "System" under "Windows Logs". Use the "Find" option on the right, and look for “MemoryDiagnostic” errors. i9-10850K, ASUS TUF GAMING Z490-PLUS (WI-FI), 32GB G.SKILL DDR4-3603 / PC4-28800, GIGABYTE RTX5080 16GB WF OC 3 FAN running 3440x1440
