XP12 - not just for serious folk

Featured Replies

I re-posted some pix as a reply recently in another topic, to show some lunacy/fun I had in MSFS originally. I commented at the time that I wondered if the much vaunted flight model in XP would even let me do such things or just bounce me out of the sky due to some arcane rule of aerodynamics or somesuch.

So I thought I'd recreate the event in XP12. And hey - it seems Austin loves a loony too! (or at least is prepared to tolerate one). So here we go, out from Heathrow in the Tollis A319, one of my faves for XP, and off east over the Smoke.

Post Office Tower (as I still think of it) in the background, along with Centre Point. All good memories but I haven't been near any of that stuff for probably 35 years now

Piccadilly Circus below. Notice the plug for Orbx, which is fair enough as it's their splendid True Earth that makes XP12 work for me

Hey! I'm a sherious simmer, me

As ever, no pixels were harmed in the making of this episode. The management does not recommend trying this without the aid of immensly impressive serious flight simming experience and skills.

Or a large glass or three of Bushmills. Whichever comes more naturally.

Life is short, Any sim is meant to be fun. Enjoy it all!

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

Interesting that you saved the real lunacy until the second half. Had me guessing there for awhile, since it started out relatively tame. 🙂

And when you mentioned heading "east over the Smoke" I thought you might be referring to that noxious transAtlantic stuff we've been wafting your way.

Wonderful shots Andy! 😉

Ah Bushmills, great stuff!

Cheers John. Although I'm not yer actual Cockney, as an Essex Boy I'm a sort of honorary Eastender and that is how I tend to think of the place. Not sure of the actual origins but I sort of assumed something to do with the smogs and fogs of the old days. Wouldn't have thought there was ever much actual factory chimney type smoke in the area.

Thanks Will, and I've been meaning to ask you - do you run with HDR on your system and if so, what do you use for your screenshots? I'm using the GeForce game bar thingy for mine, but wondered if there was a better mechanism.

Cheers Jack, thought they might be up your street. Sorry it wasn't yellow.

Hey Jude! (sorry, bet you've never heard that one before), indeed it is. Bit of a late discovery for me, couple of years ago now, but I'm trying to make up for lost time. Seem to be succeeding nicely, too <grin>
