First time talking to controller on Vatsim

Featured Replies

I was all ready to go. Got my radio check. VFR clearance for departure to the north (Lexington to Cincinnati). Got my taxi instructions and the sim crashed. Controller then closed up.

I made plenty of mistakes but the notes I took will help for next time.

Do you have any common airports you fly out of? When is your preferred day and time to sim?

I would download an app like vatprism to see which controllers are online at what time.  If you're USA flying nights and weekends are best.  Vatsim typically has a FNO Friday night ops where two or more airport pairs are featured.

choose somewhere quiet, until you are confident and more important competant.  Please dont go to somewhere like Heathrow or Gatwick when its busy until you know what you are doing.  It ruins it for everyone else.  Like Ryan says find a quiet area to practice first.
