Accesible hardware to mimic FCU knobs?

Featured Replies

Hey,

Been flying a lot of Airbus lately across both MSFS and X-Plane and enjoying it. While I have most things bound to a key, especially the critical stuff I don't want to fiddle around for with the mouse during some phases of the flight, I still haven't found a graceful solutions for the FCU knobs. I was wondering what solutions that existed that are in the 'accessible' range, i.e not prohibitively expensive because I'm not looking for a full-fledged replica from a niche company and preferably something you could pick up locally, not have to special order from around the planet.

My immediate idea was something like the Steam Deck + which has 4 turn knobs. Though would be nice with something that includes a button built-in, to mimic going in- and out of managed mode, though not an absolute requirement.

Any suggestions?

The SD+ turn knobs are also "push clickable", if that is what you mean above. Another possible eventual option is https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/633856-minifcu-flight-sim-autopilot-interface-developed-by-pilot/

Oh I didn't even know that, then the SD+ suddenly became very interesting, thanks for letting me know. I did see that miniFCU but I'm just worried I wouldn't be able to get my hands on one until closer to next year, given that it's just out of Kickstarter but it looks interesting for sure, I'll keep an eye on it.

Thanks Al

If you happen to use FSUIPC7, there is a free plugin for the SD+ called Pilot's Deck. There is a bit of a learning curve with it but I have found it to be very powerful. You can even set it up to automatically load different SD options based on different aircraft.
