Hello, I've recently switched to Majestic's Training Edition (V 1.025) of the Dash 8. On my first flight, MCE seemingly wasn't able to switch frequencies. It would open the FMS panel, but it wouldn't "take over" the mouse pointer to "push" the keys. After a second or two, it closes the FMS, and unsuccessfully "tries" another two times. I'm on an older version of MCE, V3.0.1.3 according to my change log, and I also updated to P3D V5.4 recently - should I try upgrading MCE to the latest version?

Update to latest and then report back. Ignore version displayed on website. It's actually V.3.0.5.3

Is there anything peculiar with the FMC panels compared to the Pro version. I assume you made CDU 2 ready for clicking.

The CDU 2 is turned on, but MCE opens CDU 1. It's always been that way...for me at least.

Un-install previous version via Windows Control panel.

Do NOT delete anything maually, as your activation file and installed additional human recorded voice packs remain inplace.

Simply download latest, unpack and run "InstallMCE". Should be all you need to do, except if you acquired Prepar3D V6 in which case you need to run tha app wizard briefly (no need for speech training) so that it edits "dll.xml" to tell V6 to load "fsInsider64.dll" on startup allowing MCE to connect to it. For V4 or V5, no need to do anything.

Could you post the content of "Panel.cfg" for the Q400 Training edition?

Sorry for the delay. Here is the patch

Replace "mcmjq400.dll" in \Prepar3D v5ORv6\MCE dlls\ folder.

May need more than one attempt. Please proceed as follows...

Load the Majextic plane and don't open ANY 2D panel.

Start MCE via the Addons menu and check if it's detecting the "RIGHT FMC POPUP" panel as closed by triggering some event to open it.

Is it opening the right cdu or something else?

So I replace the DLL, start the scenario, don't touch anything, start MCE, watch it do the cycling of the panels, and then ask the FO for something he needs the right CDU for...?

Yes, like tuning radios.

But first need to check whether he's using the correct event to trigger the right cdu panel.

It varies from the standard edition to the Pro edition, therefore may also be different in training edition which I don't have.

 

So, unfortunately not much difference. As before, MCE opens the window "LEFT FMS POPUP" when I ask for a frequency change. I can see it's taking over the mouse pointer to press the virtual keys, but it only succeeds once or so, leaving me with an unusable entry of "   .  0". Also, it won't switch from "NAV 1" to "COM 1" if necessary.

Additionally, my call-sign was "West Jet 3204", but my FO didn't reply to ATC instructions, even though he could read back the call-sign correctly to me.

Please re-download the new dll (same link above).

For now, he'll attempt to handle the "left cdu".

Once the clicking works as expected, we'll have to find the new event in Training edition  that pops-up right side CDU

Indeed. The panel reference size has changed from previous edition to 1680 * 1050, which means the computed coordinates (which take into account panel resizing) will be wrong.

Please proceed as follows...

Load the plane, then pop-up the left cdu 2D panel.

DO NOT resize it.

Take a screenshot and send it to support.
