August 17, 20232 yr Hi all I have been wondering about something for a while about the Fenix A320 performance. I have capped my fps in the sim to 30. Whenever i fly the Fenix my GPU fans are a little loud spinning with about 1500-1800 rpm in average for the whole flight, which annoys me. If i fly the PMDG 737 or FBW A320 my GPU fans are very silent spinning with about 1000 rpm for the whole flight. And my temps are higher when flying the Fenix, so it makes sense why my fans are spinning with higher rpm in that plane. My CPU and case fans are also spinning a little higher when i fly the Fenix, while the PMDG and FBW planes doesnt spin as high. I have tried to mess with the fan curves but with no noteworthy result. The new V2 update hasn't been doing anything for me in this matter, fans are sadly still spinning with the same rpm as they did before the V2 update, and temps are also the same. CPU: 11900K aircooled - GPU: Asus 3070 TUF Am i just unlucky or is there anything i can do to solve this "problem"? - I did a clean install of the 1.5.1.200 version before testing.
August 17, 20232 yr Fenix obviously takes more performance from your computer, the only way to reduce it is to reduce your settings, probably Terrain Lod and Cloud settings which are the ones that take most performance from your CPU and GPU respectively. August 17, 20232 yr Hi, I have a i9-13k / 4090 and I see the same observation between Fenix and FBW (I don't have PMDG), however I don't see it as a "problem" - I just view it as the Fenix using a lot more GPU workload. I actually find the framerate/performance is now better with the Fenix after the new update, so I no longer use the FBW as a preference if I am doing a short flight. (for a longer flight I use FBW because I can do sim rate x4, another story!). One thing that helped my overall performance is to "use alternate renderer", because my CPU has an integrated GPU. Even after modding the config file (there's another post on that) to stop it from downgrading the visual quality, I found that it made a noticeable difference. I realise that doesn't help your "noise" issue though.

August 17, 20232 yr I have both the Fenix A320 and the PMDG 737. They're broadly similar in terms of sophistication. I do think the A320 is marginally prettier to sit in, especially after the recent update but I believe it's also a bit harder on framerates. Having said that, both run pretty smoothly on my water cooled I9-10850 and RTX3080. You haven't said what settings you have in MSFS.

This assumes Fenix version v1.5.1.200. The point of this is to not downscale the glass displays if using an alternate renderer, which you'd want if you have a powerful system. The Fenix app defaults the scaling to 0.75 if you select this setting, but you probably want 1 on a powerful system. Open the Fenix app, log in and tick "USE ALTERNATE DISPLAY RENDERER" in the Flight Deck Displays section. Close the Fenix app. Edit the file C:\ProgramData\Fenix\FenixSim A320\fenixConfig.xml (note that the folder is ProgramData and NOT Program Files, substitute C for your Fenix installation drive) Change the <displayScale>0.75</displayScale> line to <displayScale>1</displayScale> (optional) Make the file read only so it doesn't get overwritten Restart MSFS, enjoy! Hope this is useful. Unfortunately I can't credit the original author that I learned this from. Edited August 19, 20232 yr by DANgerousFlyer Minor correction to file path
August 19, 20232 yr I fired up the Fenix A320 this morning and loaded into the freeware version of Gatwick and got about 42 fps. With everything on, frames drop to about 35. Changes of views cause a short dip in frame rates. I then loaded up the Fenix at one of the new handcrafted airports that came with WU 14 - got around 45-50 fps. Performance of the Fenix has improved significantly compared to V1. I purposely cranked up the settings one notch to just one before ultra. I lose the most frames when I switch to DX12 - hence I mostly fly in DX11. My CPU fan behaves just like it always did. My GPU fans are spinning the same compared to Version 1. GPU fans spinning = the fans are doing what they are supposed to do.
August 19, 20232 yr The CPU is working harder on the Fenix A320, just a bit better after the last .200 patch, maybe things will improve after with the announced next patch. Missing the PMDG DC6 in MSFS 2024 (she's here, but...).
