September 3, 20232 yr I am just in the process of pulling out my credit card to buy this monitor, and I have done a fair bit of research online. However, there is one thing that I keep reading about, and that's regarding a warning message that regularly pops up on screen to warn about 'burn in.' I have a feeling that this has been addressed with a firmware update, as there were a lot of people complaining about it being very annoying. I too would find it annoying if a red warning message kept popping up regularly while using the monitor. So my question is, to anyone who may have this monitor, are you aware of this red warning message? Thanks guys. September 3, 20232 yr I'm sorry to bring this having in view that you are still looking for a good monitor. Personally, I have no knowledge about this unit and did not see it in any store to have an opinion. September 3, 20232 yr I have a similar 48" OLED monitor by LG which is great. Had it since Christmas and whilst at first I was very paranoid about screen burn in Ive become a bit more relaxed after reading articles claim static images would need to be on screen for 1000s of hours to be a problem. I do take some precautions however. Ive two screens, the OLED and a standard LED beside it. I have made the desktop background completely black in colour. I have the taskbar autohide and also have all my desktop icons on the 2nd screen (LED). I do have monitor settings enabled like screen shift, which moves pixels a tiny amount if static, and image cleaning and dimming. If I leave the pc for awhile it will autodim. I see its on offer though was even cheaper at £899 around Christmas 22. https://www.lg.com/uk/monitors/uhd-4k-5k/48gq900-b/ Chris Edited September 3, 20232 yr by cj-ibbotson Chris Ibbotson AMD Ryzen 7 7800x3D / MSI AMD MPG x670E Carbon Motherboard / Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5090 Gaming OC 32GB GDDR7 PCI-Express Graphics Card / Corsair DOMINATOR Titanium RGB Grey 64GB 6000MHz AMD EXPO DDR5 / NZXT C1200 Gold ATX 3.1 - Fully Modular Low-Noise PC Gaming Power Supply - 1200 Watts - 80 PLUS Gold / 48” UltraGear™ UHD 4K OLED Gaming Monitor / 40" Philips 4K LED Monitor / Honeycomb Alpha Yoke / Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant / WinWing Orion Rudder Pedals c/w dampener / WinWing Ursa Minor Airline Joystick / WinWing Airbus MCDU

Interestingly, this was my other option. The only reason I decided against it is the automatic dimming/brightness that cannot be turned off. I believe it is a 'feature' that automatically dims the image if it goes from either a picture that is too dark or too bright and changes the brightness levels accordingly. Are you aware of this feature being apparent during simming? BTW, I also watched a review where the guy said it was not as sharp as some other monitors (?) Hi Howard, From what I seen when deciding on it (apart from the huge £400 discount at the time) was that most OLED monitors had automatic dimming. Its either that or risk damage like OLED tvs. Theres different colour/contrast profiles you can select and some seem to trigger a slight dimming in the sim at dusk or dawn but I tend to use the 'Vivid' profile which gives great colours and contrast. On that profile sharpness is fantastic across the board, in the sim, typing this reply in Google Chrome and photo editing in Photoshop - something which is critical to me as a small time business. I use TrackIR in the sim so my view is rarely constant so the dimming rarely switches on. Views need to stay static for a few minutes before it would increasingly dim. September 4, 20232 yr I would like to share my settings on the 48" LG, I was able to talk with a technician at a private shop working on LG products. They use a factory SVC remote to alleviate this issue regarding dimming issues, to be noted, that it will not completely disable this annoying problem but the outcome is not so pronounced actually, it doesn't bother me so much anymore. This is where I got it from, Amazon.com: MKJ39170828 Replaced Service Remote Control fit for LG LCD LED TV 49UH6500 60UH655060 60UH6550-UB 55UH6550 55UH6550-UB 43UH6500 43UH6500-UB OLEDC7P 32LN530B 49UK6300PUE EF95000 65EG9600 65EG9600-U : Electronics , and this is what it should look after you change some settings. On remote control push IN START, after you change settings make sure to push EXIT, otherwise it will not keep your changes. Inside LG menu you can change under General menu Remote Settings to Monitor Remote + TV Remote Automatic Standby to OFF Deep Sleep Mode to OFF Smart Energy Saving to OFF 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.

I apologize for not mentioning it earlier, but I had the same question for the technician. He directed me to change General Menu to show " Remote Settings to Monitor Remote + TV Remote ". Regardless of the specifications for that remote, changing those settings has made the issue less intrusive. Also, if you download from LG software to update the on-screen control, you can get the new firmware on 7/17/2023 if that is the case. Lots of tinkering with this stupid feature, apparently all monitors I checked are suffering from these plus other issues, I find this unit to be excellent in many aspects compared to others. I returned at least three and came to the conclusion that the quality of the picture was probably the best I noticed. 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.
