November 5, 20232 yr Hey all, so I would love to get that TM Boeing yoke but my desk is thicker than the clamp can handle. Any ideas out there as to how I could get it to work on my desk (it’s about 2.5 inches thick), or if anyone else has had this problems? Thank you for your time! mb
November 5, 20232 yr you can use a thinner piece of wood and c-clamp it to the thick desk. then attach the yoke to the thinner piece of wood. R9-9950X3D 32G | RTX5090 | 3T m.2 | Win11 | vkb-gf ultimate & pedals | virpil cm3 throttle | tm boeing yoke | pimax super uw | DCS
November 5, 20232 yr The design of the yoke does limit the thickness of the platform that it is attached to. Perhaps you could use a more typical set of C Clamps to attach a simple short length of 2X6 plank to the desk, and then in turn attach the yoke to the 2X6. It would not be as convenient as just attaching to the desk directly, but it should at least make it possible to use the yoke. Edit: LOL while I was typing my response KDFW posted almost exactly the same solution :0) Edited November 5, 20232 yr by GACSavannah Kerry W. November 6, 20232 yr Author I had thought of this as well and if I had a dedicated desk I would do it but I live in a very small apt so the desk I have doubles as a work desk so the breakdown of all the sim stuff needs to be on the quick and easy side. I might try and 3d print something. I had this same problem With the bravo and alpha clamps. Thankfully they came out with wider clamps… anyway thank you both for the the suggestion, I very much appreciate it!
April 14, 20251 yr I ran into the same issue and ended up repurposing one of my old Wooden Wordrobes as a mounting base. Took the door off, flipped it on its side, and the thickness worked great for drilling in some brackets to hold the yoke. It’s super stable, and I didn’t have to clamp anything to my actual desk.
