Xbox Queen... (6 Pics) ...

Featured Replies

The 747 Queen of the Skies (-400 or -8) remains (and will always remain) an evergreen favorite among us jetliner enthusiasts. My first Jumbo flight was in a LH 747-400, at O'Hare. Even today, I distinctly recall that occasion, pressing against the glass windows of the waiting lobby at the boarding Gate, and marveling at the bulbous (seemed enormous at close proximity) nose of the 747, just outside, ready to lift-off (by miraculous means, I thought) into the sky...

The 747-8 is also special to me...because, when LH (unexpectedly, or rather due to lack of awareness on my part) replaced its (I believe) A340s with the B747-8 (Intercontinental), I'd failed to take notice. LH was the launch customer for the -8I. By then, Cargolux, as launch-customer for the -8F (Freighter), has been already flying the 748 for about a year. Anyway, I did not realize (or/and didn't see any difference from a normal -400) before boarding the a/c, but only when I opened up the seatback (safety) pamphlet, after been seated, I noticed that it was the new 747-8I...

Anyway, please find 6 pictures of the Xbox 747-8I, in the nostalgic colors of the FS9/FSX World Travel. Some of us might recall (long before the PMDG Queen would arrive on the desktop), pushing our (joystick) throttles on that (default) 747-400, with bated breath, and pretending to be Jumbo Pilots... (apparently, I/we had already graduated from the mundane (default) 737-800...🙂...Oh well...)

Hope you enjoy these few images of the Queen...! Good flights to you all ...!

Yeah me too! 😉

Great shots! 😉

Great story and wonderful shots, P_7878. It's funny, your first flight in the Queen was a German Jumbo, my one was the American one, a (now even more iconic) PanAm 747-200 from Frankfurt to New York 😊

Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds

Folks: Much appreciated the comments...! The (nostalgic) plane and the livery will not go out of style for a while...🙂...

[bernd: Thanks. Yes, 2 of the classic airlines...mine is still around...🙂...though I've not travelled in LH in quite a while ...]

And I would have a hard time hopping on a PanAm plane nowadays 😀😀
