PSXTraffic status bar displaying 'stock'

Recommended Posts

Nico,

I've manually set PSXTraffic to read the airport files listed in the MSFS' Community Folder as I don't have a standard MSFS install location.

For a long time now, and despite a clean reinstall of PSXTraffic with v4.0.1 (including removal of the parameters.xml file on C:\), nearly every airport I type in as the destination shows as 'stock' on the PSXTraffic status bar, rather than name the third party ones I use.
What's weird is that the actual parking in the sim matches the third party airport scenery layout.

I use the Addons Linker app to create links to the Community Folder.

Please let me know what I'm doing incorrectly?

Since you have both Liveries and Airports folders defined (l0, l1, a0), you should uncheck the Automatic airport search that you currently have enabled (you already unchecked the Automatic Livery option).

Also, if that doesn't work, there's a separate log file that shows what airports the scan found. Not at the PC right now, but it's in the PSXT program folder structure.

It looks to me your MSFS installation is very weird. Or at least far from normal, so to speak.

Why do you have the Community folder under AppData? That part of the windows OS is meant for configuration data, small data...

Could it be that you have two Community folders?

A reinstall of MSFS and its addon airports and AI aircraft, is what I'd recommend.

Go for the defaults, put your addon airports and ai aircraft somewhere at a drive other then C:, and use the AddOnLinker program to make these "known" to MSFS.

None of my add-ons are on the C:/ drive. Using the Addon Linker tool, everything that is made active is seen by both the sim and other external tools, like FS2Crew RAAS and FSiPanel.

There isn't a second Community Folder that I can find either.

It's weird, the AirportsScanLog.txt clearly shows PSXT can detect a few of my add-on airports, then seems to get stuck/give up.

Yet, even stranger, the third party scenery parking files appear to be used by PSXT, because I haven't seen a single AI parked out of place, taxiing or taking-off/landing out of position compared to what's depicted by the payware scenery.

Also note that Scanning for Airports Automatic or scanning non-automatic with just one afolder parameter pointing to the Community folder will not make any difference because in Automatic mode PSXT scans the Community folder too ...

I assume you saw the missing airports in previous versions. What has changed at your end?

Steam asked where I wanted to install the bulk of MSFS and I told it to go to use my Z:\ drive.

PSXT identifies some of the linked sceneries, but not others.
At the very least there should be the same number again of Orbx add-ons (all located in the same Orbx source folder) being identified as active in the MSFS community folder, which is why I said it "seems to give up."

Nothing, honest!
I was using PSXTraffic and sometime after v3.0.0, it stopped identifying third party airports as third party - started calling them stock.

I've performed a full and completely clean install of PSXT, yet that makes no difference.

Appreciate you taking the time to respond. Clearly, PSXTraffic / PSXT doesn't fully like how my MSFS is installed.
I was concerned that your program may have problems with parking and injecting traffic. But as it appears to still be working with 99.9% functionality, I'll just have to accept that's just the way it is.

Steam asked where I wanted to install the bulk of MSFS and I told it to go to use my Z:\ drive.

just to add   i  use  steam  version  and  when it  asked me  to install i said   my   d   drive,   but   the  app/data/roaming is  in  my  c  drive  as  per  kiek had  posted, i  also  got  a  community  folder  with in the  package   folder(which has  nothing  in it) but  thats  not  the  one  that  msfs  uses, it  the  one  that  installed   in  my  d  drive  under  msfs.

What's weird is that the actual parking in the sim matches the third party airport scenery layout.

Then the stock and third party airport parking positions don't differ much.

I will add more trace/debug code in the next version to see where PSXTraffic looses track in discovering your addon airports. Will tell you when it is released.

Bit the bullet and changed how I linked add-on airports within the AddonsLinker environment.

Now using AddonLinker's presets function to geographically group my airfields, rather than use symbolic links into specifically-created folders organised by continent and linking them again to my Community Folder. Less neat to view in the AL tool window, but far less troublesome.

tl;dr All good now. PSXT working exactly as it should on my PC.
