What Freq to use?

Featured Replies

I just downloaded and installed Pilot2ATC. I am trying a flight from DFW to MEM. I got my clearance, I got my taxi, after trying all 5 DFW GND freqs. but when I get to the runway, I tried all 4 TWR freqs and I cannot get a reply on any of them.

What am I doing wrong? How do I know what frequency should I use?

It normally tells you what frequency to go to next, although you can tell it to auto-change the frequency itself, or for that matter to reply as well.

Also, the assigned frequency is shown in white below the comms area if you have the option checked in Config to "Show ATC Assignments".

If you are too far from the point the program sees as the takeoff position, you may not get the auto assignment to Tower and would be sent back to Ground for Taxi instructions if you did get Tower.  After getting Taxi instructions, press the "Taxi" button to the right of the map and it will show where you need to taxi for departure.  Usually, a little triangle at the end of the blue line will show the exact spot.

You can ask Ground for a frequency change to Tower and get the correct frequency, but if you're not close enough to takeoff position, you'll get sent back to Ground.
