Aircraft take more than 12 minutes to load.

Recommended Posts

Hi am experiencing very long load times for third party aircraft I installed recently (both the ATR and the SWS PC-12)

Even loading from a default airport with no complex scenery (FBMN - Maun) it takes 12 minutes to load the flight from the screen where you select the aircraft and the airport. The CPU usage is also very high during this entire period.

The other aircraft I have I have in my hanger takes less than a minute to load.

This is very frustrating.

I am running a I7 - 12700K with 32GB RAM and a RTX 3080 Ti, so there is more than enough power.

The aircraft are stored on a separate drive than MSFS (both SSD drives)

Once the aircraft is loaded everything is fine and CPU usage drops to normal levels.

Any advise where I could start looking for the cause of this problem.

Some aircraft which use WASM gauges (coded in C++) take a long time to load on the first loading after a patch.  I know the FBW, PMDG, Aerosoft CRJ, and other addons do this. I don't know if the SWS is coded similarly.

More relevant would be the drive type.
I expect that having bought that quality of PC, you will have MSFS on M2 SSDs.
I also expect that, if you don't already, using the Addon Linker to reduce the amount
of items in the Community folder would help out as well.

I usually don't have more than one or two addon aircraft in my community folder at any one time for this very reason.  They do make loading times a lot longer and I am loading from a fast NVMe drive.

The key is, as Ryan suggested, if the problem still happens on the 2nd try with the same type of flight.

I found the culprit, I disabled the SWS Okavango Delta package and now my flight loads in 30 seconds.

This package adds some animals and lodges in the Okavango delta but there must be some serious problems with the coding in order to put such a load on the system.

Guess I will have to fly without the eye candy.

Thanks for the help and suggestions.
