Airspeed intervention, unstable approach.

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me if there is the is the option to select airspeed intervention when in the VNAV/LNAV mode in the 787-10.

Also, when in the ILS approach mode and the AP is disengaged, this aircraft jumps and becomes very unstable.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Push the speed wheel for airspeed intervention.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

That doesn't work... this is the 787-10 in MSFS 2020.

Just press the IAS/MACH selector knob and the speed window opens and then select the speed you want, for a more accurate profile you can then also put that speed in the vnav descent page on the FMC.

“MCP Speed Intervention VNAV PTH

With VNAV active, pushing the IAS/MACH selector enables speed intervention. Speed intervention allows the flight crew to change airplane speed with the IAS/MACH selector.

In a VNAV descent the MCP speed window can be opened without changing the pitch mode. The pitch mode remains in VNAV PTH throughout the descent as long as the speed remains within the VNAV speed band on the PFD. When using speed intervention during descent, closing the IAS/MACH window resets the FMC target speed to the IAS/MACH window speed if that speed is lower than the FMC target speed.
If the airplane speed deviates beyond the VNAV speed band, the pitch mode changes to VNAV SPD. Speed is maintained by pitch and the airplane departs the vertical path.
During a VNAV, non-ILS approach while using speed intervention, the pitch mode is VNAV PTH. The vertical path is maintained regardless of IAS/MACH selector changes.
If a “direct to” is executed to a waypoint in the approach, VNAV transitions to the approach phase when the airplane passes the “direct to” waypoint. If a waypoint located after the first waypoint of an FMC database approach is added and executed, VNAV does not transition to approach phase when passing the first waypoint of the approach.”

Does not work... FYI, I have a Thrustmaster Yoke, and throttle quadrant attached. Maybe I have to remap the speed intervention button, either on the throttle quadrant or on the PC screen?

Where would I find the intervention button in the configuration section of MSFS 2020?
