Our New Zealand tour, part 1

Featured Replies

As many of you will remember, one catecory of sim flights I do is re-flying trips that I have done in real life. Posting screenshots from these flights, I often added some real life-photos. This has become more challenging in the last years, due to two reasons:
1. With MSFS not many sceneries cover the Orbx forum rule "must contain scenery made or sold by Orbx", so these can´t be posted as I did in the past on the Orbx forum.
2. Over the past two years about half of the guys that used to post and comment moved to the AVSIM forum, and half stayed at Orbx.
Now that some more attractive payware sceneries have been established, I will try to take up my documentation practice again - let´s see if I can manage it.

Last February we travelled with some long-distance night flights to New Zealand, overcoming our jetlag and starting our tour in Queenstown.

Followed the road to Homer tunnel. As some of you may know, this is a single-lane tunnel only, so you have to wait before you may pass. Guides say this can take up to 30 minutes in high season.

Even with a car it is quite a steep way down from there to the valley. But with a plane this is even more challenging.

The routined pilot can do it, before turning into final over the famous sound.

We stayed in Milford Sound Lodge, a place that was finally added to the scenery with the area pack. An area we will explore on the follwoting days in more detail.

Thank you very much for watching - and commenting. This is indeed a very beautiful place, and not easy to reach for us from Overseas...

Good that we can get a glimpse of that by simming.

Cheers, Gerold
