February 2, 20242 yr One thing about MSFS is that it's now certainly possible (and worthwhile) exploring any part of the world...without payware add-ons, and if there is especially an incremental (but still free) Update for that region, one can be fairly sure of a reasonably realistic and rewarding experience. I recalled today that I'd installed, a while ago, the Update for the "Central Eastern Europe", a region, I do not recall ever having ventured into, before, nor would have conceived the idea of such a venture in my past SIMs. One of the countries in this region is Croatia. Today, I wished to find out more about what I'd always read...about the beautiful coastlines of Croatia. My flight course, here, from Rijeka (LDRI) to Dubrovnik (LDDU) has actually stayed a bit in-land, though glimpses of the Adriatic Sea were frequently visible. On my journey, I discovered beautiful but rugged mountains, not high, but very scenic indeed, with ridgelines precipitously descending into the sea. Mountains and Sea, placed together, to me, elevate the beauty of the land, by offering to the senses, the best of both worlds, so to speak...So, the flight offered fascinating vistas and sights, that contributed to a most enjoyable experience. I'm pleased with the MSFS rendering of this region's topography. Of course, in RW, there are countless idyllic islands there nestled against the backdrop of these picturesque seaside mountains, and sparkling beaches etc., that I could only visualize, but not directly seen through my screenshots... As one approaches Dubrovnik (LDDU) airport's ILS Runway 11, there are several hills and mountains nearby on the port side of the glide path. As a side note: On one of these hills, a tragic accident had happened, back in 1996, involving a B737-200 (a USAF CT-43), while on a non-precise (NDB) approach. A course-deviation of only about a mile-and-half was enough to cause the collision with the mountains you see in my final pictures set... Anyway, on this (happy) flight, my livery of choice, for this post, is one of the (special) all-blue liveries of JetBlue, a favorite airline of mine, of this A320neo, that caught my attention today (out of a pack of 100 repaints, I'd picked up a while ago from the Marketplace). Notice the colorful kites flying on the tail section of the plane... (the kites being symbolic of carefree and happy emotions...of the carrier...🙂...as I understand...) ... Hope you enjoy this collection of images from my trip off the beautiful (and long) Adriatic Sea coastlines of Croatia. Thanks for viewing...!
