February 11, 20242 yr Today I tuned ATIS at my home airport and no audio back from MSFS. Toggled to ATC and requested clearance. MSFS played my voice request just fine. But the response from MSFS was silent. The MSFS response was only presented in scrolling text. So I am hearing the pilot side, but no sound from the MSFS response. I have not changed any settings I am aware of from my previous flights, Any ideas? February 11, 20242 yr Yes - I just posted on a similar experience (among other issues) a few days ago. Here are some things you can do: Switch to COM 2 (both on the Nav/Com and on the ATC window) New discovery - don't use ATIS or AWOS at all (at least at departure) If I don't use ATIS at departure but call up Clearance, then I get audio for ATC for the flight If I use ATIS, as soon as I request Clearance another voice repeats the ATIS recording while blocking out the Clearance response (which can now only be read, not heard). From then on I have to run off of Com 2 or get no audio responses. Randall Rocke
February 11, 20242 yr Author Still having the issue today. Flew from Buffalo to Montreal. I tuned Buffalo ATIS. Took a full two minutes but did hear ATIS. Switched to Ground and requeste taxi. Nothing. Took the flight. No ATIS sound when nearing Montreal. Brought of the ATC windows to find ATIS text scrolling, but no sound/voice. Same with Approach and Tower frequencies. So off the the Official Microsoft MSFS forums. After digging around for a few minutes I came up with this: ----------------- Here are the steps to take. if you are in FS2020, go to OPTIONS Go to GENERAL OPTIONS Click on MISC Click on LANGUAGE Change (in my case) EN-US into another language (in my case NL-NL) Click APPLY AND SAVE (bottom of screen) A screen message will appear: “Language will only be applied after restarting the game”. Click OK Click on ESC GO BACK (bottom left of screen) Click on ESC GO BACK (bottom left of screen) Click on ESC QUIT TO DEKTOP (bottom left of screen) 12 Click on YES in the menu. Then FS2020 will be closed 13. Start FS2020 14. Go to OPTIONS again 15. Follow the above points from 2 to 12 again. Return the language settings to the desired language and follow all the above points until closing FS2020. Afterwards everything is back in the desired language and for me the ATC sounds worked as they should. I hope it works for all of you and look forward to hearing about your results. ---------------------- NOTE: WATCH WHAT LANGUAGE YOU PICK!!! WHEN YOU START MSFS AFTER THE FIRST STEPS, WHEN YOU RESTART IT ALL OF THE MENUS WILL BE IN THE LANGUAGE YOU CHOSE. i HAD TO QUICKLY LEARN SOME NL-NL TO CHANGE BACK TO ENG-ENG. This appears to have worked for me. Interesting. I had not changed languages but had flown in the Mediterrian last week. France, Spain, and Italy. This issued started when I next flew here in the USA. February 12, 20242 yr This did not work for me. After cycling the languages from English to French to English I accessed ATIS on the next startup and received the report. Then, it repeated all of the same errors as before. Another voice repeated the ATIS report while covering the Clearance. All audio on ATC communications stopped and I had to recover by switching all communications to COM2. Randall Rocke

February 12, 20242 yr Author Are either of you using the relatively new DynamicLOD enhancement tool? I was fine for quite a number of flights after the most recent MSFS updates. The DynamicLOD tool is the only thing recent I have added or changed. I went through the language drill I posed the link to, and am not using the LOD tool. I am now fine. February 12, 20242 yr I am not using the LOD tool. I just built a new system and wanted to see what settings gave me the best performance before I experimented with LOD and frame generation. Randall Rocke

Language drill didn't work here either. Seems to be an odd one to say the least.
