March 2, 20242 yr Hello all, This is a desperate cry for help to anyone who might know how to fix or modify game controllers. I have a nosewheel tiller that, since it was delivered back in January, keeps randomly dumping its calibration. It's hella frustrating! In a nutshell, I was gypped (or scammed) by the Prime Cockpits guy. My wife got it for me for Christmas. I'm looking for a way to either fix or modify it so that it's not dumping its calibration every few hours (or less) anymore. It clearly has a crappy, jittery, unstable potentiometer. I was hoping someone might be able to explain a way to fix this; maybe I can replace the pedometer with a digital one instead of the old traditional type (if this would be a viable fix)? Thoughts? Ideas? Thanks in advance! Edited March 2, 20242 yr by aeromastr Needed to clarify a point.

It can also be a poor connection between a potentiometer and a controller board or a faulty controller board itself. If the pot is not "spiking" when the handle is turned then most probably it's not a cause of the problem. I'd check (re-seat) the connectors first. One word of warning- if you don't have any DIY electronics experience and the problem is there from day one, maybe the best option will be to return the tiller for the replacement. As for fixing/ upgrading it- it would be great if you make a couple of pictures of the tiller's internals to see how the wiring is arranged and what type of pot is used.

Well that's the crux of the issue: Returning it is not an option; it never was. The company (or dude) turned out to be a scam. He scammed several people with his iffy products. He operated out of Brazil. I blew his cover a month ago and communicated this to him. I told him that I would expose his scheme to as many people as possible and that I would contact my wife's credit card company to see if there's anything I could do to get her money back. After that exchange, he took down everything from the Internet. The company no longer exists. But he was out there for a couple years scamming people. I was communicating with him back-and-forth when I first received the product, but he was no help at all. He blamed everything on my understanding of the set up and my computer. That's when I knew something was wrong. Come to find out, several others had experienced the same unfortunate encounter (as far back as 2021).

A tiller is quite a simple thing- a pot and a controller (plus one button in case of A320 tiller). All the elements can be replaced/ upgraded. Could you make a couple of photos of the internals- then I'll be able to give you a more specific advice.
March 2, 20242 yr Author @SergeyPe Yes. I will provide those photos for you tomorrow or Monday. I appreciate your doing this for me. 😁 Edited March 2, 20242 yr by aeromastr
March 6, 20242 yr Does it works with it's own driver with auto calibration or windows general driver? I used to have problem with auto calibration driver came from saitek. If it's manual calibration then it's more likely faulty pot or connection, which should be easy to fix if you know how to "replace the pedometer", and if the mechanical build is sound (judge from some picture I found online about "Prime Cockpit nosewheel tiller", it looks OK-ish?). Worst case would be the problem is in the control broad, but swapping it with a open source one like MJoy16 wouldn't be much harder than that I guess, I learned about it just for build a MCP.

How can I tell? Surprisingly, I haven't had any issues with it for about a week now. That's why I haven't opened it to take pictures yet.
