March 17, 20242 yr Well, whatdya know? Media Creation Tool repair to the rescue once again. Took a long time as usual but once finished it was back into Windows and MSFS launched just fine, although I had a 459.68mb update to install with the basic welcome to MSFS release notes again (yes, to the correct install location. But everything appears to be in order. One quick flight to check then off to bed much later than planned! March 17, 20242 yr I think we all had to go through this at least once in the last 3 years. probably the biggest nuisance with MSFS 2020 is their fragile DRM protection system. about the only advantage with my x-plane install, never had to re-install it in the last 20 years, despite all its other shortcomings. to Microsoft's defense: I think up to now, their DRM protection system has never been cracked despite many attempts I am sure. I use Macrium Reflect as an image backup/restore solution for such cases, has saved me from hours of Windows re-installs. but it sounds you know how to deal with such issues and glad you are finally back in the cockpit. you're cleared for take off!
