March 19, 20242 yr Hi all, did a little flight around EDDF to practice in the helicopter and it's really funny to see that there are strong sides of every sim. Take the best features of the big sims, throw it all together and than you will have a first class sim....🙂 Here in Aerofly4 it's clearly the best and most detailed stock EDDF of all sims. And compared with the EC135 here the Bell 407 in msfs is a nervous wreck... On the other side the groundscenery in msfs has a better resolution so one can fly lower and it looks good nevertheless. The Eurocopter EC135 or now Airbus H135 is in heavy use by rescue organizations worldwide, around 650 worldwide are fitted with rescue equipment. A famous one in Germany is the "Cristoph" rescue helicopter which is operated by automobilclub ADAC, they have nearly 40. There is good video footage available at YouTube showing it in rescue operations, search for "ADAC Christoph1 cockpit". They can really fly, wow.... There is also a lot of AI traffic now in Aerofly. Emirates taking off here. The EC135 has an automatic stabilization system and a working autopilot. I have activated "alt hold" and hdg sel" here. Of course in the heli the autopilot is more for use in a stable situation, when applying very fast corrections or so it will shut off. Here you can see the highway A3 and the big car parking building on the other side. Overview Frankfurt/Main which is my city of birth. This was long ago....🙂🙃 Couldn't find a helipad, have to search again later. Thank you very much for viewing! It can be downloaded by Steam automatically but takes a lot of time to do the improvements. March 22, 20242 yr Very nice pics, of an airport I've had chance to transit through > 12 times... I recall only 2 occasions, when I had a chance to get outside the (Intl) airport terminal. One of those, was due to snow and bad weather in Frankfurt, so LH arranged for overnight hotel stay and a day's worth of German (visitor) Visa for all pax. I did some pleasant sightseeing around the places you've shown here... I recall that occasion because when we were to depart KORD, at 2am in the night, the LH 744 got de-iced once (as I watched from inside the cabin, the de-icing crew working on the 747, in bitter windchill). Then we could not depart due to traffic congestion, so the captain ordered another de-icing...! Apparently, there is a time-limit in bitter cold temperatures, when a 2nd de-icing could be ordered at the discretion of the captain. Folks on board were grumbling...but I was frankly thankful, and patiently waited for it to finish after which we lifted off... Thanks for this set of images of EDDF and vicinity...from the vantage viewpoint of a helicopter...!
