March 21, 20242 yr Yesterday France paid a solemn tribute to one of her brave heroes from WW2, dead at 102 yo. He was also very military active after the war and died as a senior admiral. His name was Philippe De Gaulle What is really amazing is that as an aviator for the French Navy, initially trained by the Brits in the early 40’s, he flew in his life the following aircraft Spitfire Mk-V, PBY-4 Catalina, PBM-1 Mariner, HO3S-1 Dragonfly (helicopter), Aichi E13A (Japan), SBD-5 Dauntless, F6F-5 Hellcat, F4U-7 Corsair, PB4Y-2 Privateer et P2V-6 Neptune. I don’t know whether today a military pilot, AF or Navy, could have such a career flying so many different aircraft during war ops.
