Fenix A320 V2 - Failures

Recommended Posts

I know that the failures listed in the EFB are headed up as 'manual failures' - is there anyway that 'random failures' can be initiated? - so that I do not know what failure to expect or when?

In the MCDU, config page, there's "random failures". You can set it between "OFF / Realistic / High [probability]". High probability still isn't really high, it's more like once every couple of flights. Keep in mind that you might not even notice some failures, because they are not critical. E.g. if terrain radar fails but you are not using it, you won't notice.

EDIT: you can after your flight check however in the manual failures if one is active (engaged by the random failure trigger), it should be colored in red I think.

Speak of the devil, I just had my first random failure (set to realistic) in the Fenix after many months of flying it 😅

ELAC 1 fault at cruise altitude, resolved by setting it to OFF, then turning it on again, as per the ECAM actions.

Very nice.

Ahhh, the old 'switch it off and back on again' solution!

What works for my TV, surely works for a 100 million $ aircraft!

We joke in the ATR that it stands for “Always Try Resetting” 😂
