April 19, 20242 yr I use the Asobo Caravan to practice procedures. I fly a Grand Caravan EX with a PT6 and G1000NXI IRL While the Asobo model is reasonably accurate, I'm wondering if there's any improvements out there that I'm not finding. There's plenty of "wants", but in particular, I'm most interested in... The ITT dance... In sim, the ITT just rises to the operational temp, while IRL, the ITT rapidly rises, slows it's roll and then settles back down to operating temp. Hot starts. The ability to overtemp and blow up the engine. Hung starts. Over-torque. The BlackSquare Caravan does a good job of all this, but it's (stanchly) steam gauge. I fly glass, so that doesn't help me. I also fly in VR, so I'd prefer something that still works in VR (one of the mods I tried killed the primary flight controls) It's not a deal breaker though. Is the Asobo Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX Realism Mod the "latest greatest"? He is looking for similar improvements to engine behavior as the BlackSquare version provides but wants to keep the G1000NXI avionics. I would be intereest in this myself too. I think it mainly addresses the flight model, not the engine behavior. I have mixed feelings about it. It does seem to improve the ground handling and I think it gets slightly closer to the performance numbers of the actual aircraft in a given situation. I'm not a real Caravan pilot, but have RW experience in the C152 and C172. IMO the default flight model feels credible and pretty close to the numbers.
