Bizarre crash issue - GSX and RealTurb together CTD

Featured Replies

Hey,

Before I am hit with a hail of 'works fine for me', I know this is probably an extremely local issue that is down to something really specific on my setup. Recently set up MSFS again and started noticing a very consistent crash every time I pressed Exit to Menu from a flight. I'd see a faint picture of the load screen, would freeze and then do a clean crash-to-desktop. Only when going back to menu.

I started troubleshooting, removing addons, temporarily removing stuff from the community folder and noticed disabling / unlinking GSX solved it. "Oh, it's GSX" I thought. Then I realized disabling the RealTurb program running in tray would also solve it, even when also running GSX.

For fun, because I was already planning to, I did a completely fresh reinstall of Windows, downloaded everything again, slowly got addons installed and everything was running smooth... Right up until the point both RealTurb and GSX was active and it was back to not being able to exit again.

Right now, I ONLY have 'fsdreamteam-gsx-pro' and 'fsdreamteam-gsx-world-of-jetways' links in the community folder and the second I also run RealTurb, it still happens.

So I'm out of ideas how to actually proceed from here, outside of obviously just forgoing one of them. I was just curious if anyone had noticed, heard of- or experienced a similar issue? Possibly some input on why that would happen or would I could look into?

Thanks

I have both also you could temporary set for GSX logging via the in game menu and choose settings to troubleshoot the issue...

Could share those in the GSX discord for support to rule out GSX stuff.
At which point does the crash occur, in GSX settings you can disable GSX when you are in the air..

I don't have your issue and use both make sure also to update to the latest GSX version and realturb.

Hope it's helpful,

Cheers,

I've noticed this issue as well. Although I don't actively use GSX, I'll have a look whether something is still in my Community folder. As for RealTurb, I've disabled it while I try ASFS, so that isn't running right now. However, I'm still getting random CTDs when I try to exit back to the main menu.

Good point on the logging, I'll that that into consideration. The crash only happens when pressing the quitting to menu button. I can't point fingers at GSX specifically, GSX might not be the primary culprit, just be implicated in something else it might seem. But overall, I'd rather avoid any 'close down stuff while flying, before exiting', as that's a sidestep of the primary issue that I will 100% forget time and time again. After some searching and other posts, it seems more people are having this issue and it doesn't seem related to a specific software or addon, perhaps an underlying issue of stuff hooking into MSFS.

Appreciate your post. I've come across a few sporadic reports of a similar nature and there's no common denominator outside of getting the crash when exiting to menu menu, though not many. Might sort itself out when SU15 drops.

Likewise. Thanks for bringing it up. I too am hopeful that it will be a silent bug fix in SU15.
