May 12, 20242 yr Lately, I have been experiencing an issue with my PC or MSFS2020, despite not making any changes. When I select an airport, it automatically defaults to a specific runway. For instance, at KEWR, the default runway is 22R. However, if I try to select a different departure runway, such as 11, it reverts back to 22R. Strangely though, when I select a parking position, it works fine without any issues. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? If so, do you have any suggestions? Thank you. 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.

At this point MSFS will choose a runway apparently based more on your parking position than other factors. So....if you wish to take of on ANY particular runway the key is to choose a SID married to that particular runway you wish to use, then ATC will direct you to that runway. I forgot to mention that there is no wind, no Flight Plan (FPL) or Air Traffic Control (ATC) involvement. Previously, I did not encounter any issues with selecting any runway that I had in mind. However, now I am facing an issue with runway selection. I have checked my user experience and assistance settings, and everything is turned off. I have rechecked them again for confirmation. 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.

You need to turn ON (IIRC) the setting to enforce the flight plan. Even though you're not inputting a flight plan, the selection of a runway is part of a flight plan to MSFS.
May 12, 20242 yr Author I will check. STBY please 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.
