Florida - F45 to KFPR in a Reims Rocket

Featured Replies

Not sure what triggered it but I discovered the R172 Reims Rocket and this very splendid livery a couple of days ago, and thought it might look good over a nice lush bit of Florida landscape. The C172 is on .to of course (ย https://flightsim.to/file/42097/rf172-reims-rocket-cessna-r172-hawk-xp-ii ) and of the airports here, F45 North Palm Beach is also from .to (ย https://flightsim.to/file/476/f45-north-palm-beach-county-general-aviation-airport ) and KFPR Treasure Coast International is default MSFS. I might get the UK2000 F45, haven't decided yet.

I really enjoy Florida in the sim. Been there a few times for work. We had a training centre in Orlando for a while because it seemed like it would be a good draw for the longer classes - people could come on a two week class and get a Disney visit as part of the trip. Didn't work out though as most employers were reluctant to fund an obvious jolly disguised as training. I'm also possibly the only guy to have stayed in a hotel in Orlando over a weekend and been desperate to get out of town and find somewhere to go that didn't involve Mice or Ducks. Did find a couple of nice estates with museums and fancy gardens, but can't remember their names now. Also been a big fan of Carl Hiaasen over the years (not all his stuff works, but most do) so feel a certain empathy to the wild places there.

My spreadsheet is showing around 80 scenery addons of one sort or another for Florida and the south, and they are mostly for FLA itself. I thinks it all works pretty well in MSFS, and I'm well pleased with the sim post SU15. My system is running incredibly smoothly now, pretty much stutter and pause free at 4k, DX12, HDR, Ultra plus LODs of 300. "Only" getting around 40 fps but I really don't care about frame rates as long as it's smooth. And, boy, it sure is now. For the first time in any sim I reckon I could actually record watchable videos now. And I might start doing that (just for my own use)

Already left F45 in this first shot, didn't want to spend time exploring the airports at either end as the scenery itself is just too good and needs to be shown as much as possible

Initially went direct north out of F45, but swinging out towards the coast now

Eight lane highways, big spacious malls, hot sticky lush greenery - all stuff that seems terribly exotic to a pasty Brit like me

Just to prove that I do know what the inside of the cockpit looks like!

Wonderful trip travelogue...Andy...spiced by some RWย visit experiences...๐Ÿ™‚...

My FL/Orlando trip is coming up...not in the Reims Rocket C172...๐Ÿ™‚..but to be flown on a 737 MAX 9...

You probably know more about FL than me, it has been 15 years since I was last there...Yes, Disney is not really my type either, but certain things you got to do for the greater good of the folks around...๐Ÿ™‚...

Like the shiny and golden hue of your transport a/c too...!
