July 20, 20241 yr Flying the 737-800 today and during the descent/approach phase I get a loud horn. I thought it might be an stall warning, but I'm not getting a stick shaker. My other thought is that maybe the 737 doesn't like my flap settings in relation to the airspeed, but I'm well within the ranges according to the chart. I also questioned the flaps because the speed tape only shows UP, 1 & 5, even though I'm close to VRef on approach and should be landing with 30 degrees. I didn't see a warning light and eventually the sound ceased, but I it occurred and ceased again later on. Any thoughts? Thanks..
July 20, 20241 yr Did you have probe heat turned on - it's possible the speed tape was reflecting a previously higher airspeed and not current speed as a result of pitot icing. The fact that the warning sound ceased (probably as a result of descending into warmer air, or out of visible moisture) also points to pitot icing. i7-6700k • Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5 • 32GB DDR4 2666 • EVGA FTW ULTRA RTX3080 12GB

I don't recall turning probe heat on, so that very well may be it. :-(
July 20, 20241 yr Author Well.. Happen again to me on a flight from KCVG to KMEM. Did some digging and according to PMDG forums it appears that the horn will sound if flaps 15 is selected before lowering the gear, which was probably the case. The information is supposed to be in the tutorial flight, but I guess I must has scanned past it. Back to the books.. :-)
