LOWI rnav08 and fenix

Featured Replies

Yesterday i made a flight to lowi with the fenix. The ATC told me the approach to 08 using rnavZ 08 but when i inserted it into FMC the flighplan doesn’t finish at runway 08 , it finishes a waypoints before the runway

i am using last navigraph cycle

anyone knows why the flightplan doesn’t finish at runway?

Sometimes the procedure only takes you as far as the missed approach point, after which you're on your own 😉

A quick look at an old Jeppesen chart from Feb 2013 suggests that the RNAV into 08 at LOWI will only take you as far as the missed approach point at WI804.

14900ks, RTX4090, 64Gb@6000-30-36-36-T2, Samsung 990Pro 2Tb , Dell G3223Q 32" 4k Gsync + 27" secondary monitor.
Thrustmaster Airbus Edition throttles etc, TPR pedals, MiniCockpit FCU, WinWings FCU, WinWings Orion 2 F15E, WinWings A320 sticks.

If you take a look at the charts, there are two RNP approaches to runway 08. RNP Y finishes before the runway at WI814, which is the Missed Approach Point. The rest of the approach is a visual segment towards the runway. The RNP Z approach is the only one that provides vertical and lateral guidance all the way to the runway.

The main difference between the two is that in order to fly the RNP Z approach (which has a much lower DA) the aircraft and the crew need to be specially qualified for that approach.
