December 19, 200619 yr It says "Server Too Busy Try Again Later". :)If it depicts bad hail damage, I have seen pics like that. Hail totally ruined the nose on a DC-8 picture I saw.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2530 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
December 19, 200619 yr Author I was actually working that night at CYYC when it landed with a fire truck escort. I don't know where the text came from but the only true part is that they under flew a towering CB anvil and hit the hail. As for the damage, only the inboard landing lights where broken. The outboards were fine. The #1 and #3 engine inlet cowls, radome, radar, L-1/R-1 windows, and inboard landing lights/lenses were replaced. The horizintal stab leading edges were badly beat up but Boeing Engineering approved a speed tape repair for a one-time ferry flight back to Florida. After approval by Transport Canada and the FAA, the 727 was allowed to return to its base for repairs. These ferry-flight repairs were done in the hangar we do our maintenance in. The comment about structural integrity and scrapping the aircraft is from someone who knows nothing about the 727 and the event. This 727 is being repaired and will return to service.BTW, the aircrew didn't quit but the FE did say it was the most frightened he has ever been while flying. He also stated that he was a USAF vet and flew in Vietnam so I can only imagine the noise of the hail impact.Cheers,JohnBoeing 727/737 & Lockheed C-130/L-100 Mechanichttp://www.sstsim.com/images/team/JR.jpgwww.SSTSIM.com
