July 30, 20241 yr Today, I wished to fly my "namesake" 787 after a long break. Actually, when I'd come up with my "username" 787-8...🙂...the 787-10 variant, that I am flying here, was probably still on the drawing board. The 787-8 flew for the first time in 2009 and then introduced into service by ANA, whereas the 787-10 was introduced into service by SIA nearly 10 years later. Anyway, last I'd flown the (MSFS/Asobo) 787-10, was before several Updates back. One reason, I have been always a bit nervous to fly this nice airliner (in my Xbox system) is because of occasional loss of (cockpit) avionic displays in mid-flight. Today was, however, different...there was absolutely no mishap from takeoff to touchdown. It was a smooth and trouble-free flight throughout. For my destination today, continuing to explore the (newly crafted) airports of WU XVII, I set my eyes to Cardiff Airport (EGFF) in Wales. In the virtual world, I am quite familiar with this airport, since the FSX/Orbx days, where "EU Wales" included a "payware-quality" EGFF as part of that scenery package. So, I wished to now test this airport from the World Update XVII. I've lifted off the port City of Liverpool (EGGP - John Lennon Airport), on the Irish Sea, and flown the short 150 miles, straight south, to Cardiff, located off the massively wide (lower) estuary of River Severn, which is also almost like a sea by its own right...🙂... (in fact it was originally called "The Severn Sea")...So, the southern end of Cardiff airport is practically located on the edge of this land. In my last but one shot, I've shown one image of the picturesque shoreline just south of Cardiff's (12/30) Runway, including a beautiful viaduct bridge nearby. For choice of airline, a while ago, I'd got a set of special (add-on) repaints for the 787-10, from which this standout "Formula One 2022 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix" livery caught my attention today. For this flight, I've executed my virtual aviator's privilege...🙂...to fly this Etihad 787-10 out of EGGP's 7,500 ft Runway. With reduced a/c weight, there was no problem (safely) lifting off before I ran out of real estate...🙂...Oh well... In RW, I have never travelled on the Etihad B787, but I have flown once, on their B777 via Abu Dhabi. So, this Etihad brought back bits of old memories...Overall, it was a good and fun flight here...especially when this special (silver) livery is made to shine so well with the glowing sun...🙂...The EGFF (default) Airport also seems fairly well-rendered in the latest MSFS World Update (see my last 3 pictures...) ... Hope you enjoy this collection of images...! Thanks for viewing...!
