December 23, 200718 yr Im a little confused as to what I need to do to get the VC rain to work in FSX. From what I understand, I need to copy a file from FS9 to FSX texture folder. Is that it?I still have my copy of FS9, but its not installed, do I need to install it first in order to copy that file over, or can I copy directly from the Cd?Sorry if this has been covered before, but I could not find the answer to my questions.Rob
December 23, 200718 yr Hi Rob,Instead of having to deal with the hassle of installing and uninstalling, try this: http://www.flight1software.com/fsxtools/f1_fsx_vcrainfix.exeRegards,Jim Karn
December 23, 200718 yr If you have FS9 you can open up the game3 cab and copy the 32 VCRain.bmp files from there and put them in the texture folder in FSX after backing up the originals of course. You can use the F1 fix, although I don't believe you can see the rain on the windshield of the FS9 aircraft with this one.Or you could download the freeware VCrain by joe binka in the Avsim file library which contains the 32 original FS9 VCrain.BMP's and 32 modded VCrain.bmp's.Keep in mind that the original VCrain files will only get VC rain working on FS9 aircraft not native FSX aircraft.
December 24, 200718 yr Author You cannot get FS9-style VC rain to work in FSX with "official" FSX models, such as the FSX default acft. You can get the rain to work on older FS9-style models though... don't know where that thread went though, have you search VC rain etc? | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
