Replaced the i9 with the Ryzen 7 7800X3D. The extra 3D cache will be much more beneficial than what the i9 can offer. Plus it's TDP and power requirements is a lot lower.

I personally don't think the 64GB of RAM is warranted, the spec sheet published by Asobo desperatly need refining as they don't make a lot of sense.

Which brand are you buying the M.2 drives from? If it's Samsung, the premium of their drives isn't worth it unless you plan to do video work. Something like a Crucial P3 or even P3 would suffice.

Honestly until Asus decides to fix their house, I wouldn't spend a lot of money on a component's who's company has dubious or even non-existent customer support. Gigabyte and Asrock haven't let me down for both Intel and AMD, if you need brand ideas.

Yeah I never used anything other then intel processors so that's why my prime candidate is one of the intel's processor. But I am looking into other processors too.

Personally these days I think going 64GB RAM just gives you that added margin for safety. On my current system I have 32GB RAM and it still struggles sometimes with MSFS and DCS.

For M.2 drive - 4TB and 2TB Crucial P3 Plus drives, I was considering Samsung but of course it costs more, unless there are added benefits like faster drive or something, I don't see any reason to spend more money.

Thanks yeah I am looking at different motherboard options - Ideally looking for something which is suited for gaming.

@CAP1234 That motherboard you specified uses a B760 chipset, which does not allow you to overclock or otherwise manage much of your hardware configuration.

Spending the money on an unlocked 14900K CPU and then dropping it onto that board is a pretty big waste of potential capability--you really should consider a board with the Z790 chipset.

Yeah I am still tweaking this, I made a similar mistake when I bought my current system in which motherboard does not allow overclocking, won't make that mistake again. 😅

Yeah everyone now and then each company shines and at the moment that's AMD with the X3D chips. Even their old gen 5800X3D is throwing blows with the 14700K whilist being cooler and using less power. So Yeah I'd get 7800X3D a look as it's cheaper than the 14900K you're looking at and should give you more performance. Avoid the 7950X3D as due to it's split CCD you'll get the same perf as you would with a 7800X3D, it's more a productivity CPU.

Perfectly understandable, DCS is a hog, especially trying to run something like Liberation

Yep you'll be perfect with the Crucial P3s. Samsung is an unnecessary premium when it comes to gaming.

Motherboards is more about the VRMs and Capacitor qualities. Then the I/O capability. I own a 5800X3D and went with the Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite AX V2 (If you plan to get a 7000 series, I just want to stress that you do not get B550 mobos, get B650/X670E) because it specifically was the only motherboard that has front I/O which my case, the Fractal North, in that price bracket.

Further with that topic, I personally would avoid X670 mobos, they're producitivty suited with tons of USB ports and more PCIE 4.0 lanes. However entirely depends on your needs. As an easy choice Gigabyte also makes the B650 Aorus Elite AX

Hopefully it works out 🙂

Thanks - I will definitely look at AMD processors, I'm hearing good things so far about it, so will look into it. I always thought intel was way forward when it comes to processors but apparently that's now changed.

Yes - 64 GB RAM is ideal particularly for DCS as on some heavy missions at the present, it does not run that well and I do encounter few CTDs because of it. Plus for MSFS 2024 they are recommending 64GB RAM for ideal experience, I'm starting to wonder how RAM hungry it will be.

Yeah no point in spending more money if they do the same thing.

Yes Motherboards I am still looking into it - ideally wan't to get something which can be used to boost performance (You overclocking etc..) not something limited which I currently have.
