The tech alpha destroyed my MSFS2020 install. This is the one thing I will be waiting on feedback for before I jump into the new sim, as I foresee having both sims installed for some time.

Did you ever figure out what it did to destroy your 2020 install?  I'm really hoping to have both programs available so I can fly either one.  Maybe it's time to get the new desktop PC upgrade and dedicate that one to 2024......

No idea. I have the store version and there were others who had no issues, so I have to chalk it down to user error or an installation specific issue.

I solved the problem differently. Since I got 2020 from the Store, I bought 2024 on Steam

There are FAQs on the official forum about what will happen with cross platformed 2020 and 2024. But these FAQ's are woefully incomplete and leave obvious potential problems unmentioned. For me the proof will be in the pudding, I am going to wait while others rush to buy 2024. And then examine the problems reported by users.

For instance the FAQs talk about the compatibility of the store and steam platforms, but not the Xbox platform. And they say you won't lose content going from store to steam, but they don't mention what will happen if you go from steam to store. The direction probably doesn't matter, but probable isn't certainty. And just because MSFS is saying certain things will work, doesn't mean they will. If they don't work, there should be lots of yelling about it in the forums and on Youtube. Absent complaints, I would then confidently make my purchase.
