November 13, 20241 yr Hello, I am a computer dummy when it comes to hardward and fully understanding what I am supposed to be doing. I would appreciate your feedback on my choosen hardware: CPU - The AMD Ryzen 9 9950X Ram - Hynix DDRs 32GBx4 128GB Cooling- Noctua NH-U12A coolers SDD - Samsung 990 pro 4TB Power - Seasonic 1000w Focus Nvidia- RTX4090 0r 4080 (not sure which) Thank you in advance for taking time out to peruse my rig.
November 13, 20241 yr CPU: for gaming /sims the 9800X3D is a much better choice. Perhaps the 9950X3D might be even better but it isn't available yet. RAM: I'd advice against using all 4 slots on a high performance machine. The memory controller will be busier and performance and/or stability could drop. Also, 64GB is plenty for MSFS2024. GPU: This is a bad time to buy a new videocard. Both AMD and Nvidia are coming out with a new generation in January. Flightsim rig: CPU: AMD 5900x | Mobo: MSI X570 MEG Unify | RAM: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z Neo | GPU: Gigabyte RTX 3090 | Storage: M.2 (2 & 4 TB) | PSU: Corsair RM850x | Case: Fractal Define 7 XL Display: Acer Predator x34 3440x1440 | Speakers: Logitech Z906 Controllers: Fulcrum One Yoke | MFG Crosswind v2 pedals | Honeycomb Bravo Quadrant |Thrustmaster TCA Quadrant | Stream Deck XL & Plus | TrackIR 5 Tobii eye tracking

November 15, 20241 yr Yeah, as mentioned, if you're buying it for MSFS, you want an X3D processor. You're leaving a lot of performance on the table by going any other route.
