November 25, 20241 yr @Lorby_SI any guidance on how to transfer the templates and scripts (clone 2020 binds into 2024)?
November 25, 20241 yr Are you using the latest updated paid version with MSFS 2024? There is a new installer for MSFS 2024. X670 Aorus Elite AX, 7950x3d, GSkill DDR5 6000 CL30-38-38-96 32gb, Gibabyte 3070ti, Noctua NH D15

Moving the entire database to the new sim only creates a lot of unnecessary load for AAO. So many things have changed in MSFS2024, it is hit or miss if you rather start fresh or merge the old stuff. Sorry to kick this back up many months down the road. I have backed up the whole data base via the Tools menu into the zip folder. But if I do a clean install and start fresh as you suggest above and just bring over the templates I have created, how does one do that? Eric

This only makes sense when you are using linked, "multi-purpose" templates. Otherwise you are probably better off moving over the entire database and then deleting everything that doesn't work in FS24. Edited July 13, 2025Jul 13 by Lorby_SI LORBY-SI

Before I move over, do I install AAO for MS2024, then uninstall the MS2020 version? Or are you supposed to uninstall the old version first? I don't want to leave anything to chance in losing all the time spent on my templates and settings. Edited August 16, 2025Aug 16 by B777ER Eric

AAO for FS24 is not a replacement, it is a separate variant with its own database/config files. All 9 AAO variants can happily live side by side on your computer - same as with the simulators themselves, MSFS2024 isn't a replacement either, but a new, separate sim. If you're worried about data loss, create a full backup of the AAO 2020 files and keep that backup file safe. And make a copy of the AAO folder in /Documents.
