Anyone do the solo for PPL and get past a B rating?

Featured Replies

The Solo flight is frustrating the bleep out of me.  Every time I do it I get wildly varying results for each leg and I swear I'm following the instructions in the briefing and Mission window as close as possible.  It's like the circuit needs to be 25% longer to allow you to actually hit the speed and altitude targets when it wants. I've gotten a B rating 2 times and a C like 10 now.  Always usually 45-65% per leg except somehow the crosswind is usually pretty high.  I did the individual trainings for each phase and aced them all.  I know I've been flying a lot of airliners the last few years but I don't think I'm this bad with a Cessna

I think the logic is screwed up on that lesson.  I've never gotten better than a high B because the downwind leg never scores higher than 40%.  I flew the lesson several times, nailed the speed and altitude on downwind... but still 40%.  I finally had to give in and admit that a B might actually be good therapy for my OCD 😄.

Thanks for confirming it's not just my piloting skills, I really thought I was losing it because I'd run it again and get it even closer to what the briefing and mission log thing wanted and would end up with a worse score on some of the legs.  Really made no sense.  After initially trying it a few times last night I went and did the individual takeoff, climb, landing trainings to see if I was missing something and nailed them all, then went back to the Solo and it was as bad as ever.

Hah! My thoughts exactly! Am I really THAT bad in a... Cessna?? You're not alone, happened to me as well. To rub salt in my wounds, I then flew the bugged tornado mission and my rep plummeted. Now I'm afraid to climb into a jetliner! 😁
