Yeah... you should be able to walk around right from the start. Maybe another addon is stealing focus from the sim when starting a flight... try clicking anywhere on the screen to make sure MSFS is the active window.

Hmm... I'm a retired controller. My last facility was Atlanta. I agree that ATC can't "force" a pilot to do anything; but if you want to land/depart opposite direction during an arrival/departure rush, you're going to be waiting a looooong time. Not saying it can't happen (the reason I said only partially true in my original response); but that kind of request is normally going to result in a big fat "unable" unless it's an emergency or it's been coordinated well ahead of time.

That's only partially true. Assuming the request is reasonable and/or there is an operational need to use a different runway, ATC will do its best to accommodate the request; but it is not the pilot's decision. ATC calls the runways/approaches in use and if a request for a different runway conflicts with the current operation (especially if it's opposite direction), it can and will be denied. With that said, the pilot could declare an emergency if they absolutely need to use a specific conflicting runway; but they'll have some explaining to do when they get on the ground.

Does this method work in MSFS2024? I think I read elsewhere that it only works for MSFS2020 (hoping I read wrong).

I had the blank MCDUs a few weeks ago with the stable version. I noticed that Contrail had installed it into the new MSFS 2024 "Community2024" folder. By moving the aircraft back into the standard "Community" folder (Contrail provides an option to do that), the MCDUs came back to life for me.

I'm not currently in the beta; but if you have custom camera views, you need to back them up before doing a full re-install (they will be deleted). They are normally saved in: C:\Users\*UserName*\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\SimObjects\Airplanes\ Probably also a good idea to back up exe.xml If your community directory is in a custom path, it will also need to be redirected after a reinstall In this day and age, a full reinstall seems like a pretty drastic measure... I hope they don't expect everyone to do it when SU3 is officially released.

Very nice! It still blows my mind to see 4 seater aircraft like the SR22 (turbo) comfortably cruising in the flight levels... GA has come a long way in the last 30 years. Just as an fyi, the Bahamas are in the North Atlantic; the Caribbean starts south of Cuba, Hispaniola, Puerto Rico, etc. Looking forward to part 2!

Try exiting the sim and retry. I think there's a bug in FS2024 where if you edit the cameras in one aircraft and then enter another aircraft, the viewpoint coordinates don't reset correctly. I'm not sure about the details; but I avoid it by exiting the sim whenever I'm finished setting new custom camera views.

Are you using DX12 in MSFS2020? I noticed that if traffic volume gets high enough in DX12 and MSFS2024 (again DX12), stuttering gets very bad. Switching to DX11 with the same settings appears to eliminate the stutters on my system.

I've never used it; but I've read that accessing another windowed application (BATC, FS2Crew, FSLTL, etc.) disables Lossless Scaling in the sim. Is that true?

Make sure you don't move the mouse pointer out of the assignment box before you press the button you're trying to assign.

Are you saying that frame gen is now available with the new AMD drivers? If so, how do you enable it?

I think the logic is screwed up on that lesson. I've never gotten better than a high B because the downwind leg never scores higher than 40%. I flew the lesson several times, nailed the speed and altitude on downwind... but still 40%. I finally had to give in and admit that a B might actually be good therapy for my OCD 😄.

Before buying anything during the current iniBuilds (or Contrail) sale; be sure to check out the summer sale in Microsoft's in-sim marketplace first... most of the items are even cheaper in the marketplace.

Really? PMDG -700 and -800? A2A Comanche? JF BAE-146 and Arrow? FSW Chancellor, Got Friends Wilga, SWS Kodiak, and more. I'd say a pretty impressive selection. The main issue is that most of the folks around here probably already own the ones they're interested in.

I tried that and it worked... once; it appears it may only work temporarily. It almost seems like anytime something changes in the MSFS folder structure, it gets stuck checking for updates all over again.

I also use the Tobii and prefer it over the TrackIR (which is really not saying much because I absolutely hated having to wear a hat or headset/clip all the time, so I rarely used it). My biggest beef with the Tobii is the way it's implemented in MSFS... the settings must all be adjusted within the sim and there is not nearly as much flexibility as there should be. For example, if you want to pause tracking while focusing on a specific area in the cockpit, the orientation always resets to the forward view... there's no way to set it up any other way. Fortunately, combining the Tobii with FaceTrackNoIR ($3 - $4 online purchase), provides much more opportunity to fine-tune settings and yields a big improvement over the default tracking imho.

It makes total sense... what are you not understanding? What makes no sense is why LM seems dead-set against allowing P3D to run in full-screen to take advantage of 1/2 and 1/3 vertical sync modes.

I think it would be in DT's best interest to fix the lighting problems in Flight School... not just the full simulator. After all, newcomers to virtual aviation don't enjoy ugly visuals any more than long-time simmers (in fact, they're probably even more critical). It would also ease the minds of potential buyers of the full simulator that the graphics are moving forward and not backward.
