RELEASE NOTES Sim Update 6.1 - 1.8.16.0

1.8.16.0 is a small update intended to address a handful of issues following the release of Sim Update 6 two weeks ago.

Stability & Performance

  • Fixed PlayStation 5 memory allocator, which was causing performance/rendering issues on this platform.

Controls

Peripherals

  • Added a default input profile for Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas 5. for both PC and PlayStation 5 platforms.

SDK

SimConnect

  • Fixed mapping to a slider with SimConnect_MapInputEventToClientEvent.

  • Fixed crash when calling SimConnect_MapInputEventToClientEvent for POV without specifying an index.

Ok great. Now where's my weather update???

5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX  9070XT.

Nothing about the absurdly bright POI lighting....bummer

AMD Ryzen 9900X3D & ASUS X870E Gaming Plus MB, w/64 Gb GSkill DDR5 RAM, ASUS TUF RTX 5090 GPU, lots of SSD's and M.2 drives, HAVN Case, Virpil VPC Panels 2 and 3, TM F/A 18 Stick on Virpil Base, Virpil Rotor TCS Plus w/ Hawk-60 Collective grip, Virpil MongoosTM Throttle, TM TPR Rudder pedals. Currently on Win11

Only 2 things really bug me right now: 1) the giant tile lines that are mostly present in water, but sometime on land -- that you can see through the clouds and 2) the newly added airport lights at all airports are comically huge from far away. They leave little to the imagination of having to try and locate the field when giant white boxes are hanging above the airport.

based on my previous experience, you better MOVE it entirely

I've never done anything with the Community folder for any updates - never had an issue so go figure 🤷‍♂️

Do we have to rename or backup our community folders before updating for such an incremental update?

You never need to do that for any kind of MSFS update, the updates don't touch the community folder.

That suggestion by the MSFS team is just so you don't blame them for any issues that might be caused by addons being incompatible and crashing the sim.

that's great then

but this wasn't

Latest-update-completely-delete-all-from-my-community-folder

and I didn't do anything that may lead to this... ####

they didn't tell me anything before the update or give any warning

it was just ...gone. still picking up pieces

btw this wasn't any "issue" or my game wasn't "crashing"

it was actually worked just fine

just that everything was gone

You might find that your community folder isn’t gone, just forgotten. Courtesy of Google AI.

To find or change your Community folder in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, open the in-sim Marketplace, go to My Library, click the gear/settings icon, and select Browse to view or set your folder path.

Does this pertain to Beta? I don't belong to the Beta. I didn't get an update when I started MSFS2024. I'm still on '...8.14.0.
