Community folder usage/implementation has me baffled?_"!!

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it is found, other times it is lost...

The sim consistently, but randomly, changes the InstalledPath line in UserConfg.opt to point at Microsoft's default location on Drive C.  I use the inSim Library window to point at the correct location on Drive A and then OPEN that location and fine my addons as expected.

The Sim leaves the path alone for a while, days or many sessions, and then suddenly InstalledPath is pointing at Drive C again.

Today I started the sim with the Installed Path pointing at the correct A: location.  II use Settings to verify that the sim is pointing at the correct A: location.   I then  click the Browse button and see the four addons I installed in the 2024 Community Folder.

All those addons are verified by there vendors/developers to be 2024 compatible.

I then click the OPEN button and again see all the addons I placed in Community.

BUT - when I try to select an aircraft - neither of the addons are available in the sim.  The same with the iniBuilds KPSP airport.

During a sim session this morning both the airports and the aircraft came up in the sim - now they don't.  But, the Settings window in the sim is aware of the addons.

What don't I understand here?

5-minutes later:  Ended flight/ended session normally.  Opened Usercfg.opt for 2024 and found:

InstalledPackagesPath ""

Yes - the sim decided to point at nothing despite it pointing at the correct location while in the sim just  before I closed the sim.

What the heck?

That's why I decided to follow the installation as much as possible to default since contrarilly to FS 2020 there was no way to arrange the folders under another Partition, leaving the system folders under C:, but I did ask on the Xbox options to change the instal to my F: folder...

I still see for instance the rolling cache file under  Appdata on C:, but it's a symbolic link to F:... Same with the Community...

Only thing I really don't like are the replicas of some system folders created under F: 😏 messing with my other flightsims so far beautifully placed there under F:... (F:\xp12,  F:\Condorsoaring3, ...)
