For sure! My son has a bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies and majored in percussion. He's now a professional musician and performs on the drums in a variety of genres. He is a session drummer for a number of jazz bands as well as the main drummer for two other bands. He's also played for a variety of rock bands, and he regularly travels around Canada for gigs. He's really living the life.

Anyway, back to the skill of drumming. My son will often tell me about how he has to perform all sorts of complicated mathematics in his head realtime, especially when he plays jazz. It's hard to imagine how drummers can keep track of all of their limbs while simultaneously focussing on the music and keeping time for the other musicians. Pretty amazing, really.
