    Novawing24 on the MIA list?

If I remember correctly, in one of his last videos in December 2018, he mentioned that he was going to be busy with work and his triathlons for the coming several weeks and wouldn't be able to post much about flight simming. He's still posting videos to his VLOG on YouTube called "The Tristan Files."

    Lorby Flashlight released

Wow! Just what I was looking for! Thanks!

    Air Canada Vac

    Back up now.
  4. Agreed. I enjoy reading waypoint names and trying to discern whether there's any meaning to them. Some of those where I live (near CYVR) are related to places--e.g., JORJA, which is in the Georgia Straight, a body of water between the Vancouver mainland and Vancouver Island; BOGGI, which is located in an area, a bog, called Burns Bog; and STAVE, which is located near Stave Lake.
  5. Thank you very much for making Radar Contact free to the community. I bought mine years ago and still use it. I'd also like to thank you for all the years of supporting our wonderful hobby, and I wish you the very best moving forward. Sincerely, Joel

    Chuck's Guides for Prepar3d/FSX Aircraft

I'd like to thank you as well, Chuck. Also, my vote is for the Aerosoft CRJ.

    Unread Content not working

It seems to be intermittent. I just had a problem with it. Choosing "condensed" and then going back to "expanded" seemed to solve the problem--at least, temporarily.
  9. Yeah, but what's the frame rate like?

    who stole the plane

A very sad, very public event. My condolences to his wife and family, and my best wishes to the ATC personnel and pilots who calmly tried to help out. I live in Greater Vancouver, only about 100 or so miles (160 kilometres) north of Seattle, so I know Sea-Tac and the area fairly well, as I've flown IRL into and out of KSEA many times--and of course, the Pacific Northwest is one of my favourite areas in which to sim. On another note, I'm curious about two comments he made. One concerned his vomiting. IIRC, at one point, he responded to ATC by telling them that he had just thrown up. I'm wondering what might have caused that: some of his (maybe) sudden control inputs, perhaps? The second comment concerns his wondering how to pressurize the Q400: he mentioned that he was feeling 'lightheaded," as he put it. From the looks of the video I've seen and from what I've heard of his interactions with ATC, it doesn't appear that he was at altitudes whereby he would need pressurization.

    Does anyone remember?

Unfortunately, I don't remember. My member profile says that I joined Avsim on December 27, 2002, but I think that I had been a member before that. Anyway, I've been a daily (sometimes, many times a day) reader probably since I first joined the community. I can't imagine a world without Avsim.

Beauty of the jet age stewardess

... and I just spit out my coffee! Ha! Too funny!
  13. Hi, Nigel! No, I don't fly with anyone else. I prefer to enjoy my flight simming alone. I don't play any team-oriented online games, either. I guess I sim to get away from everyone else rather than be social. 🙂

    Congratulations to Rob Ainscough!

    Congratulations!

DHC-3T Turbo Otter Released - support!

It is exceedingly unfair to Milviz to characterize the offer as a lie. I received the upgrade offer via e-mail, and I gratefully took advantage of it. An apology is in order.

    Aivlasoft EFB v2 coming soon

For what it's worth, I've used EFB on my simming computer for years. I have two displays, one for P3D immediately in front of me, and one to the side for all the others programs that I run to support my simming (EFB, various VA ACARS, Active Sky, Chase Plane). I don't notice any slowdowns as a result.
  17. Lovely pictures. Thanks. I've flown on Harbour Air Turbo Otters in real life a number of times myself.
  18. Interesting. Given the exchange between Pounds and Canadian dollars, I probably spend a little less. Here's another perspective on the cost of flight simming (helps immensely with justifying CPU upgrades, expensive add-on aircraft, high quality yokes, and the like to my wife): the cost of my flight simming is far, far, far less than what I would spend in Canada on real-life flying lessons, renting GA aircraft, etc. 🙂

More from the "PSX" of the Airbuses ...

    Hmm. Very interesting!

    Where Simmers hail from

    Where are you located, Tino?
  22. Great to hear from a neighbour, too, Dane. I was just in White Rock on Mother's Day, but it was such a lovely hot day and therefore so busy that I couldn't find parking 🙂 and ended up going to Crescent Beach instead. Coincidentally, my home base airport is also CZBB. Thanks for the recommendation re: Don Grovestine's scenery. I'll have to check it out. Concerning CSK8, yes, I have the same problem, but I see that later in the thread Alex and you have figured it out.
  23. Hey, Dane, I live near CSK8, too! I live near Highway 10 and 152, so I'm about a five minute drive away. I don't know if you've heard, but after decades, King George Airpark is going to close. Apparently the owners of the property on which CSK8 sits are not going to renew the lease. I often see ultralights from my backyard as they head to CSK8 to land. I'm going to miss that.
  24. After performing well for almost 8 years, my TrackIR 5 died last night. I bought it in the summer of 2010, and it's served me well for years. The camera section of the TrackIR application shows only solid red lines, which is an indication that the camera has stopped functioning properly. I've already ordered another one. Come to think of it, this is the first time I've replaced a piece of equipment with exactly the same piece of equipment (and not an upgrade of some sort). 😁 I just can't live without a TrackIR after using it for so long.
