Tested flying the Asobo 787-10 in MSFS2024...

Featured Replies

Buoyed by my (earlier) success in flying a complete flight in the Asobo 747-8 (please see my earlier post on it), I tested, today, the (Asobo) 787-10, an aircraft that is dear to me, because it belongs to my namesake family ...🙂... (the "787"). This 787-10, per the new MSFS2024 paradigm, is also "Streamed in", just as most of the aircraft in MSFS2024 are (see also my previous post on the PMDG 737-600).

I don't know...but my preliminary conclusion (mind you...applicable only to my Xbox/MSFS2024 experience; so, your PC experience may vary), is that "Streamed in" a/c are not performing as smoothly as what I'd seen in my MSFS2020/Xbox. This is almost to the point that at "major" airports, these airplanes, such as e.g., the 747-8 and 787-10, are currently un-flyable...disrupted by frequent freezes, loss of cockpit avionics, and poor (external) scenery rendition. BTW, if it's only the "streamed in" scenery that's imperfect, I can still at least fly, but if the "streamed in" aircraft become un-flyable, I am really unable to continue my flight...being forced to restart the flight all over again, with hope of, maybe, better results on the next attempt.

I am still optimistic that things will eventually improve...with more efficient (overall) streaming mechanisms for MSFS2024 for the average consumer (Note: I just upgraded my internet service provider plan to 525 Mbps data rate, which, though, as far as I can tell, has not helped my case...)

Anyway, please find, below, here, a collection of pictures of the Asobo 787-10, taken from my two (test) flights that I conducted today.

Hope you like these pictures.

Thanks for viewing...!

I don't know, but these textures, especially the outside in the first shot seem a bit low-res to me. Is that due to the streaming as well?

All my FSX/P3D repaints are here on Avsim, for my MSFS repaints, go to FS.2

Thanks, pmplayer...! I wish the (stock) 787-10 works in all the airports I want to visit (as it used to do in my MSFS2020/Xbox) ...like this airplane a lot...but, so far, it's a stutter-fest in and around major airports...not sure why the aircraft have to be also "streamed in" for MSFS2024....Oh well...

Exactly correct, Jan. As I said, this "steaming" is not working well for me (in the Xbox/MSFS2024) with the big airliners at and around major airports (though, your PC experience may differ). It's just not scenery, these airplanes simply freeze when approaching such airports... (the PMDG 736 may be an exception, so far, what I've tested) ...

Just FYI, the first set, here, I tested around Amsterdam (EHAM), and the 2nd set is from Sangster International (MKJS). You can see that for the coastal region/airport (MKJS), I've had some success and reasonable scenery rendition, and also could land this airliner without any issues, but at EHAM, it wasn't simply possible...due to pauses/freezes in the SIM...

Nice shots P_7878 of the big bird. Certainly they build the sim more based on the cloud, this is what they do everywhere today.

And it will cause some difficulties. So I found it becomes better if you fly a while in the same area. And a large rolling cache,  I have 96 GB.

This is deactivated in my Msfs2020. 🙂

If you imagine I can fly everywhere in the US and in Europe in Xplane offline, everything is stored on the computer.

So what is the better solution is no question for me. If Xplane needs any data it will be there.

SIMs: FSX SE, P3d 3.4/4.5/6.1, Xplane 10/11/12, MSFS 2020/24, Aerofly FS 4

Seems to be there is a problem regarding the reflections of your big bird. Works on the engines but not not on the body/fuse.

I have this in P3dv6 all the time with a lot of the planes. This are the advanced features of the new sims....🙂

Huh, seems there is a lot of work still to been done from MS/Asobo, i can't quite understand how such a half-finished product can be thrown at the feet of such a large and loving sim community...🤔

cheers 😉

Yes PM, and they did a lot of changes and now they have to fix all the issues which are caused by this.

For example the aircraft selection screen, terrible. It needs more effort to pick a livery than in 2020.

Or the files for the aircraft profiles. This is the worse 'I've ever seen in a sim and causes trouble because a lot of keys are assigned multiple times.

And aside from that i.e. Xplane loads these profiles automatically as soon as you choose a plane. I have a lot of profiles in Xplane and never touch it.

And the most needed improvement compared with 2020 is still missing in 2024: A few settings to adjust the light, there is not even a setting

for brightness and contrast and saturation. This is standard in P3d but also in computer games such as the famous World of Warcraft.

And as it is currently I have to choose the daytime and the weather preset for the flight every time I start a flight.

Or did I oversee something? I cannot save the settings and this is crazy...
